The judges words in this rape case are really compelling.

Awful case of rape - seems (although we don't really know) opportunistic tale of a young woman walking home from a night out.

Judges words are really good.

Very stark about how he's made woman look over their shoulders because of his actions. And how it's cowards like him who need to change their behaviour and not the woman.

We need more statements like this.

Very well said that judge. I sometimes go over that bridge, it's chilling.

I drive under it everyday and I can't help thinking how scary it must have been for her.

Especially as I'm sure people drove underneath at the time and she must have been pleading someone would notice and help.

Absolutely agree with above poster too that we shouldn't have to be grateful a judge has recognised this.

I long for the day this is simply the mindset.

I'm pleased that the judge said this.

I'm downhearted that we have to be grateful for such a recognition of commonsense and acknowledgement of what it's like for women.

I wish peace of heart and mind to the survivor and those who support her.

yes, well said by the judge and good to hear the police tell it like it is
if by any chance the survivor is reading this, we send you love and solidarity, and thank you for taking this on- the streets are a little bit safer thanks to you x

The rapist lived in the same block of apartments as my exH (and DD10 when she's with him) so the case was v close to home for me. The whole community has come together over it - so relieved to see the judge's opinion on it. Disgusting man, hope he gets everything that's coming to him

I'm just down the road from the bridge so close to home to me too.

Someone should send that to that clown Philip Allott. Let him see that it's not only women saying the attackers are the ones at fault.

It was just so refreshing to hear.

Especially from a male judge.

We really do, and she's been incredibly brave to see it through to trial.
