I think she has a chance for another appeal.

No, surely 'Feminism chat' was the main one. The other didn't exist.

It did. The main feminism board was always at the url 'womens rights'. Its still there, it just got renamed when they got rid of the other 3 feminism boards and created this one.

Ultimately the main board is the one people use.

Because discussing feminist issues without addressing the massive elephant in the room which identifies as a gazelle seems a bit pointless to many of us, so we'd rather do it there in the naughty corner where the elephant can at least be mentioned.

@donquixotedelamancha

I am genuinely baffled about why general feminist topics are posted over there and not here.

The other was always the main board, they just renamed it. It remains by far the more used board through inertia and the fact that discussing feminism without mentioning sex based rights feels a bit pointless to many.

No, surely 'Feminism chat' was the main one. The other didn't exist. People complained that Feminism was overwhelmed with 'sex and gender', meaning women's rights and transgender, threads so they took that topic out and gave it its own sub forum which was initially called something else, (sex and gender debate?) and is now Sex and gender discussion. Everything generally to do with feminism, that isn't about that specific topic, belongs here.

That's why I'm puzzled when a news item about, say a Feminist conference, is posted on there and not here. I've noticed many other examples as well.

That split of the board and the way it’s been retrospectively applied as well is really inappropriate, for all the reasons you say.
What feminism doesn’t find ‘who are women?’ relevant or would seek to avoid thinking about that question. It’s a high profile political issue for several years now with very serious real-world consequences for women.
As the Bell case shows very clearly. And very sadly for all the individuals affected. Many children and young people have been let down by a specific fixed view within adult gender politics, which has been inappropriately embedded into health care practice. This has in turn seemingly undermined proper professionalism and safeguarding. It’s scandalous.

So in this context splitting a board seems a real facepalm idea from a website that has been kind enough to host feminist discussions on exactly this topic for years.

Anyway, there are excellent posts from so many different angles around this pivotal case and the issues it raises on that other thread linked to above. I’d encourage anyone from this board to go over to the other, new board 🙄 in order to have a read of it.

What is this if not the main feminism board? The other one is Sex and Gender. I am genuinely baffled about why general feminist topics are posted over there and not here.

I've thought about starting a thread about this to see if anyone thinks the same as I do or can hazard an opinion as to what these two separate places are intended for. I've been wondering if I am out of step with everyone else.

@donquixotedelamancha

Apologies I missed that

For others it sounds like this is a much better thread //www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4350998-the-judgment-in-keira-bell-s-case-will-be-given-tomorrow

I won't post anything more on this and will look at the longer thread

Thank you @donquixotedelamancha

Just seen this. Can't believe it!

Can't smoke until 18 (not that that's a bad thing) but can take life changing and irreversible medication at 13, 14, whatever years old!

I hope she does appeal. However the way is now clear for those affected to sue clinicians for prescribing harmful treatments in their youth. More fundraising will be needed .
