Waterproof socks - which brand?

I was looking at the weather forecast for this weekend, and dreaming of waterproof socks (as it's the CRUK virtual 10k, swampliy muddy already and snow forecast - just the bats sort of challenge I could do with right now)

Can anyone recommend a brand? I've seen shoutouts for Sealskinz before but my eyes have just watered at the price. Yes I would spend if they reallymare that good - but are they?

Anyone had any Otters? They're the brand that Amazon seems to be pushing

Also, what length? I usually run in Stance sockets, but sometimes midlength in winter. Guessing midlength good for these too - but what does anyone else have?

I run mainly on road, plus some benign trail (not much right now, but hoping to do more one day when it's more OK to drive to exercise elsewhere)

I have both sealskinz and otters. I don't wear either for trail running as I like a really thin sock x2. (My husband does run in his sealskinz however without issue).
I do wear mine for dog walking and I prefer the sealskinz.

I use sealskinz for fell running, cross country and cycling. Current pair are 5 years old. Probably get worn 50 times a year? Still in good condition and waterproof. I wear them with thin liner socks and wash the sealskinz once a week. I’ve not had problems with blisters/ rubbing running. They’re a game changer at this time of year! Dry feet, woo. Put your running tights over the top as it helps stop the rain water running down your leg and into the sock. Worth every penny! I wouldn’t want to try anything else.

Sealskinz are great in terms of waterproofing, can stomp in the biggest of puddles and not a drop gets through. They last forever - I have a pair one that survived years of soggy circuit training in parks (I'm still living in hope that I'll find its partner - like you say, they're not cheap!)

They're quite a thick and stiff material, though they may have got better since I bought mine, I found them comfortable enough for trudging about in, but compared to running socks I imagine they don't feel as good, don't know if they'd rub etc?
