I have never been a runner. Since March I started exercising indoors and now do something from Les Mills On Demand every day.
I did a long Body Attack today (the new United one) and there was loads of jogging on the spot.
If I can keep that up for a long time, does that suggest I will be able to run round the park for a similar length of time? Or is jogging on the spot easier?
Sorry if it's a stupid question.

I'd normally be out on Saturday at 9am to run the 5k and on Sunday volunteering at the juniors. I have the RD's box gathering dust in the corner of my house. Glad I bought the bibs home to wash and dry , they'd have become very musty in the Ranger's store.

parkrun is amazing. I’m a run director at ours so involved in organising each week in normal times. We have people who finish in 18 minutes and people who finish in 60 minutes and everyone gets the same cheering and encouragement 🙂 it’s one of the things I’ve missed the most this year.

Thank you everyone!
I will give the C25K a go and see how I get on. I wish Parkrun was on, I wouldn't mind joining in if there are other non running types!

You use the term "easier" , well running on the might feel easier. But if it's exercise that you want then doing things that are "harder" might be best for your fitness, use more calories, lose weight, tone up etc.
I absolutely hate running on a treadmill as it's inside and very boring.
Running outside just makes you feel so much better.
Couch to 5K apps are great. If and when we can mix in groups again try a Parkrun. That changed my life. There are literally 25 stone people hobbling at the back and a year later you see them transformed!

Jogging on the spot is hideous, unsatisfying torture. Give me a proper run with changing scenery.
General exercise is good stamina for beginning running, but not necessarily the right balance of muscle use. Running on the spot or even a treadmill are different as you don't have the aame push over the ground. C25k is a great way to build up the specific stamina and muscle power for running. Existing fitness makes it easier though.

I’m fairly new to running but proper running is definitely harder and especially when you add in the odd hill, wind pushing you back and uneven pavements. Ultimately though, if you’re enjoying the jogging on the spot, it might suggest that you’d enjoy trying the C25K app and enjoyment is what it’s all about.

Jogging on the spot is a lot easier than "real" running, yes. I'm a disance runner and don't find Les Mills classes get me anywhere near as tired as a hard run does.

Jogging on the spot is easier but if you want to give running a go download a C25k app and do exactly what it says. It honestly transformed my life 🙂
