Exercise

Is this a decent amount of exercise?

I'm really trying to incorporate regular exercise into my current daily routine-

I am not really trying to lose weight (although a little bit would be nice!), I am trying to be fitter, stronger and possibly a bit more shapely.

I have gone from zero exercise (3 months ago) to a current weekly plan that involves 2/3 walk/runs (using the couch to 5k app), and two 20 minute HIIT workouts at home.

Is this a decent amount of activity for a mid 30s women who wants to be fit and healthy?

A overhead dumbbell squat with 3kg, especially if repeating sets if pretty effective

Yes, definitely incorporate some weights. I just use 3kg dumbbells, and sometimes 5kg, so not particularly heavy, but doing 20 mins or so a day has made such a difference. I also do squats holding something heavy & found that really helped with my running.

If you want to become more shapely, you will need to use some weights. It will give you more options to get more definition. You don't have to spend much.

Invest in a set of dumbbells of different size, fill an old gym bag with bags of sand or rice, use your coffee table.

You can use bodyweight but you must know how to perform the move .
Get inspiration from this website athleanx.com I use the men videos more than the ones for women
For bodyweight this has good explanation but quite hard www.youtube.com/channel/UCZIIRX8rkNjVpP-oLMHpeDw

I quite like her as well youtube.com/zuzkalight I have been doing her videos since well forever whence was still bodyrock

Have fun and beware, fitness can become addictive!

150 minutes of exercise per week is the recommended amount. That's 30 minutes 5 times a week.

See above link to the NHS guidelines, which are pretty detailed and helpful.
