I just signed up to one of these in October Shock and have no idea where to start with the training, so I was wondering if there was anyone on here who can advise?

I can do the run and bike lengths on their own, but when I have done either I haven't had much left at the end so putting it all together is likely to be a challenge. Not to mention the swimming ...

I just have no idea whether to go for longer workouts in each of the three or put them together or what ... hmmm. Any advice much appreciated I need advice before I back out entirely lol

I agree that Tri220 have good plans to follow. You'll need to find somewhere to practice your open water swimming as it can be very freaky at first, and sighting can be an issue. If you can't join a club, then I did a tri training day at Dorney through Human Race last year which was very good.
Find a sprint race to do before your olympic - you'll get to practice the transitions and a feel for running off the bike.
I've done a few sprints now, and am doing my first olympic in July Grin

There's some great (free) training programmes online if you google but when I trained for my first Tri last year - not Olympic I hasten to add Blush - it was basically each discipline twice a week plus some strength training with some back-to-back (brick) sessions. My week looked roughly like this:

Monday strength training then swim
Tuesday cycle + run
Wed rest
Thursday swim
Friday long cycle
Saturday long run
Sunday rest or Pilates at home

Nearer the event you might want to try & do some swim/cycle sessions if logistics allow and practise your transitions.
