How long for enhanced DBS?

Dottydoodoo · 14/06/2022 21:10

Has anyone had an enhanced DBS recently, and if so how long did it take? It was only received by them five days ago so I’m probably being impatient, however my friend who has got the exact same job just got hers back after three days!

I have been googling (I know!) and am reading stories of people waiting 6-8 weeks plus! If anyone can reassure me of recent quick turnaround times I would be very grateful! I have dreamt of this job for a long time and am keen to get started!

thank you 😊

It varies…. Takes longer if you have a common name or you’ve lived in a few different places.

Mine had expired, just had to resubmit my application, they received it 27th. May. I've just tracked my application and it's all done except for my certificate, which is in progress. Have you got a tracking ref no. from a confirmation email?

I've just had one in less than a week.

Thank you everyone! I do have a tracking number which I am refreshing on the tracker far too often 🙈 it is currently at stage 2 which is showing as in progress, none of the other stages have been started yet.

I don’t think I have a common name, not that common anyway! And I have always lived in the same county, have been in this house for 7 years. But who knows! We have had a lot of trouble with our neighbours in the past with them making nuisance phone calls to the police about us and exaggerating things we have (or haven’t) done to get them to come out, and I’m wondering if this is all going to be flagged up and maybe make it take longer to process??

I’ve been waiting a couple of months for two renewals

@12Thorns oh my goodness really 😱 the waiting time is so random. I hope you get them back soon.

Mine took 3 months. You'll know if its going to get stuck as its always stage 4 is jams on when it goes to police. Then it depends on how fast your police department are.

Have you had a dbs before? I do them often for people as part of my job. I did 2 in the same day and one came back 2 days later as they had one recently and in the past and the other is still on stage 3 after 4 weeks but they've never had one before.

@ChorleyFMcominginyourears I have had the older style CRB check previously, my last one must have been about 12 years ago now.

I do them for my work, usually Max 3 weeks unless they have lived abroad, sometimes back in days

Stage 2 is now showing as completed and stage 3 and stage 4 are in progress. I’m getting there!

@Dottydoodoo any update? I’m waiting for mine, although only been a week

Report
Dottydoodoo · 20/06/2022 22:48

@Flowerforme30 yes! It came back the day after I started this thread, after all of my worrying! It took a week exactly from dbs having received it to the certificate being issued. Have you got access to the tracker?

Ahh that’s good. I don’t have a tracker as my employer has done it all for me. I’m going to email them to chase it up. Hopefully I will hear in next couple of days

Good morning all

Just a quick question on the current dbs system. Just having to apply for a new dbs for a different role and was wondering if anyone knew if it is a quicker process if you have already had one in the last few years? Do they keep your details and just reprint certificate if nothing has changed?

I didn't find it a quicker process. I had a DBS in May 2021 and then I had a renewal in May 2022 (don't ask why my work do them every 12 months it's ridiculous) which took 5 weeks to come back. It was held up due to a backlog with police.

O that's a shame, was just hoping they popped accepted your checked details, could see you had been checked before and there was no new information to be added and reprinted certificate. It sounds like it's the police stage that is the hold up, must be a nuisance if you have to have done yearly!

Completely variable unfortunately. My DS had one done recently and it came back in 7 days, but DDs took just over 12 hours....v random.

I would be happy with the 7 days tbh! I am not very good at waiting for things, makes me anxious!

There is no rhyme or reason to how long these may take.

I've had some go through within 24 hours, and some have taken months.

Shall just have to hope I am one of the quicker ones. It's always a worry when there is a delay. Makes you wonder if there is a quicker way to do the last stage?
