How does one create a healthy home and avoid greenwashing?

Hello world of Mums!
We are a young soon to be family and are passionate about the environment. We are trying to prepare our home to ensure we are only using natural products....

Does anybody have any tips? Specific brands they use? I hear so many companies talking a good game about natural products but I am always sceptical

Hi @ShannonRose402 switch to a renewable electricity tariff, this will wipe out CO2 emissions from generating your electricity in an instant.

If you can look for "environmental product declarations" for anything you buy.

Look for brands that are sustainable (research them first) e.g Nudie, Timberland, Patagonia etc.

Drive less, drive gently.

I found starting simple helped me a lot with my transition to a more sustainable life. Things like washing my laundry at 30 degrees, air drying my clothes and turning down my thermostat a few degrees have helped me eel like I am making a difference.

There are a bunch of challenges in the Nudj Life app that have helped me make small shifts in my day to day life to slowly become more sustainable.

To be honest I don't think you need specific cleaning products. I just clean surfaces with hot water and soap/eco washing up liquid! Don't overcomplicate it and it works out a lot cheaper! I have one refillable antibac spray for the bathroom because I found the natural products not very effective.
For washing up liquid I use ecover (expensive but lasts ages) and as previous poster said the laundry sheets are good. I also like smol laundry tabs.

The only thing to be wary of is that sometimes 'natural' is not always best. I switched to a super natural detergent for our washing and it gave my DS terrible eczema which cleared up as soon as I switched back to bog standard Persil.

You can clean pretty much anything with white vinegar, lemon juice or salt.
