Eating disorders

As my (now deleted post) caused so much upset- do I have an eating disorder?

Just that really- do I have an eating disorder?

I had issues as a teenager/younger adult with EDNOS but as I am now in the healthy weight range, look normal, eat a normal amount of food without restricting or measuring obsessively I didn’t think I did have an ED.

But posters saying about body dysmorphia and how I should be happy makes me think maybe I do have an ED?!

@Onedaysometimesoon I’m sorry you’re having a tough time. It used to be that anorexia was only treated when the patient was dangerously underweight, but that is no longer the case. So I wouldn’t be afraid of re-visiting your GP. It wouldn’t be fraudulent at all.

Are you able to access any private help? Therefore there are no weight bands that make you meet the criteria for help which unfortunately happens in the NHS due to lack of funding for eating disorders? Many private options, therapists etc

@Yankathebear I haven’t spoken to anyone- I think the body dysmorphia stopped me believing there was a problem I needed to speak about. But I’ve been reflecting and will seek help if it doesn’t improve. I would feel like a fraud going to GP at moment with my healthy BMI- I remember going as a 18yr old and being told my bmi was just too high (17.8) to be anorexic and feeling like I’d failed and was wasting GP’s time as I didn’t have a ‘real/proper ED’. I don’t want to repeat that.

Your post was probably taken down as MN was worried about you.

If you are a regular weight you probably won’t need to measure anything as you’re fine. I’d suggest although you may not ‘measure obsessively’ you are still measuring. Why? Because you probably have an eating disorder and want to check you’re not putting on weight so you can nip it in the bud.

See your GP or a charity who’s been supporting you for help.

It’s a difficult thing to get on top of but I wish you well.

Have you spoken to your GP or anyone @Onedaysometimesoon?
They will be able to support you. Good luck Flowers

And agree with damn just seems like attention seeking now!

How on earth would anyone here know. If your thinking around food is disordered then perhaps you could have some therapy, MN isn’t going to able to help you

Stop attention seeking, you knew perfectly well your previous thread was ridiculous.

8.5 stone that is.

If this is about the post where you thought it's unacceptable (?) To be 8.5 at at 5 ft 5, then it's because that's not helpful to people with EDs at all.

I don't know who you are or what your previous threads were but I suggest you discuss this with your GP and not the armchair doctors on Mumsnet.

I saw both threads. It sounds to me like you may have an element of OCD with the need to control things. It just happens that the things you try to control involve food.

Were you the one who was ecstatic to have kept herself restricted to 800kcal a day which was made of ready meals and biscuits?

Odd post, no one knows without medically assessing you.
