DF has cancelled my POA

My DF has early stages of dementia. He can make some decisions and is sometimes lucid, but is very forgetful and easily confused. His doctor has confirmed to me that he no longer has full capacity for making his own decisions all of the time.

I have POA for health and money which were both set up a while ago.

My DF has called me today to say he has cancelled my POA. I've looked online and it seems as long as he has a witness to his request then this can be done. Does anyone have any experience of this? I am concerned he has been influenced into this by another party who doesn't have his best interest at heart, and that person has pressurised him into cancelling my POA and then taking it on themselves to benefit themselves in the future (access to money etc).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have really fought hard for my dad in the past and whilst I don't want to upset him I am 100% sure he didn't do this of his own accord.

Is there any way I can challenge his decision? The doctor would back me up that he doesn't have capacity to make life changing decisions.

My mother decided to cancel my brothers POA and the solicitor sent a letter to brother to see if he agreed,which he did,so no probs off he went.Had he not agreed to step down then mother would have had to go through the whole process again and expense to have him removed and replaced.So I don't think by experience that anyone can cancel your POA without your knowledge

You didn't have Enduring PoA or it wasn't registered? If it's registered, it needs more than a Deed of Revocation to cancel it, your father would need to apply to the CoP and pay a fee.

Thanks @iwantavuvezela The link you sent goes to the Scotland site which seems to confirm an interview by a professional is required. I can't find the same on the England website which just states his request needs to be signed by a witness.

I will call the helpline now.

Contact the OPG to tell them you think he has been unduly influenced and his g.p, has confirmed he lacks capacity.

Read this link, I don’t think it is as easy as making a phone call.

In the same way it is a process to get POA, for the same reasons I imagine a process is in locked in revoking it

I would phone the public guardian, I found them extremely helpful when applying for POA.
