How to find the perfect care home?

Has anyone found such a place? My dad has dementia and Parkinson’s. Mum looked after him at home as long as she could but in the end could no longer manage. We spent a lot of time researching and viewing care homes. Removed from the first one as he had a fall and wasn’t found for over an hour.
Current home understaffed and he’s basically not getting the care he needs. He’s also unable to speak or use the call button. My mum is paying for his care and just wants the peace of mind that he is being looked after. Just feeling so helpless. Are all care homes like this? There are no ‘Outstanding’ carehomes in their area for dementia.

Sorry, no advice. You're in a better position to find one as you know the possibilities are for getting it wrong.

I'm generally pleased with our care home. Small, so staff all know my father and know me, and it's very clear their trying to do their best for him, cooking meals specially for him when he doesn't like what's on offer, buying a blind for his room because he was worried about privacy. On the other hand it's a bit shabby, looks dated, his room is small and has no en-suite toilet, outdoor access is limited to a small patio - but to my surprise none of this worries him, and from the point of view of his health, the attitude of the staff is far more important.

But he doesn't yet have a dementia diagnosis and he can speak and push buttons. Your father has very different needs.
