Covid twice in 3 months.... booster or not?

Evening,

DH has just tested positive today after having COVID approx 2-3 months ago. He's clinically vulnerable / entitled to a booster which he's booked in for in a couple of weeks.

Does he still go ahead? I guess it would be pretty bad luck to get it a third time.

Clearly not though as repeat infections are common, including the OP's DH.

I suppose I'm asking if the vaccine is for the variant he's probably had and therefore is it worth waiting a while.

When there is a new booster he will be offered that one too.

You don't know which variants he has had, there are multiple in circulation.

What is the downside of having the booster?

I think you have to wait 28 days after a positive test to have a booster now.

Thank you, I've checked this out and yes you have to wait 4 weeks. We'll cancel and rebook at a later date.

Hi, I had my booster (fourth injection) 4 weeks ago and just contracted Covid-19 my second time this week. I think the booster is worth getting as symptoms are mild, just slight fever, head cold. The first time I had Covid in June this year it was 6 months after my first booster (third shot in December 2021) and I was very unwell for weeks, ended up with all known symptoms, then had pneumonia and chest pains for 4-6 weeks post. I am normally very healthy with no previous illnesses!
I have a few friends/ family who have had it a second time and my doctor said it is now possible to catch it every 4-12 weeks!
Then again, I have a good friend who is anti vax, none of their family has been vaccinated and they have never had covid!
