Covid

Anyone just had 24hr symptoms?

Hi all,

Woke up with chills/sweats/itchy legs/tingling in my fingers early hours of Monday morning.

Woke up properly around 10am and was completely floored...worst headache ever, temperature, body hurt and skin was sore...and very spaced out and wobbly on my feet. Took a test and was negative...slept most of the day and sent DD to stay at her dad's, because I could barely lift my head...took another test last night when my temperature hit 41 and sure enough big fat positive.

Was struggling to walk the 16 steps to the bathroom last night, but this morning I feel (comparatively) loads better. Temperature has gone right down and my body is tired, but not hurting...the headache from hell has gone and can walk to the loo without feeling like I'm going to pass out.

Tested positive again this morning, but am I right to think that that was the worst of it? Or am I lulling myself into a false sense of security?

Anyone experienced 24hr hellish symptoms and then that was it?

This is my first time with Covid (was beginning to think I was super immune!) so any pointers as to what to expect and what helps would be very much appreciated.

For anyone reading, I found filling hot water bottles with cold water from the fridge and using them as a pillow really comforting.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I did! Bang, everything all at once for about 12 hours then was OK. I still had a terrible cough and felt tired in the evenings but all the other symptoms were gone.

Ah I’m sorry to hear that @dumbledory I would recommend just resting. It’s so frustrating to feel better one day then ill again the next. It does pass. Even though it feels like it won’t. Such a strange virus and it doesn’t follow the normal trajectory of most illnesses.

@Delatron Glad to hear you're all better now, but think I have to agree about the sting in the tail!

Was fine for most of yesterday...a bit tired...little bit of a cough...but otherwise fine.

Last night my temperature went up again and itchy skin started up again, so slept it off.

Today (Day 3?) I woke up with a sore back and feel so spaced out and wobbly on my feet again it's unreal. Feels like one step forward and two steps back.

Silly Covid!

Thanks @dumbledory yes all better now. I think sometimes Covid can have a bit of a sting its tail. Especially if you overdo it! But the reality was I had about 3 days of fatigue with a good day in the middle then all better. This is round 2 though!

You sound like I feel! I was congratulating myself on not feeling too exhausted earlier and then about 4pm the wave of tiredness hit. But given the horror stories/anxiety I’ll take tiredness all day!

So reassuring to hear your experiences.

@Delatron Hope yours is the exception and not the normal - trust you're all better now?

Definitely have a cough now and very tired today...most I have done is put on a small wash load and transfer it to the tumble dryer....but compared to how poorly I was yesterday and the night before, I'll take it!

Yes! My ds was feeling ill for about 24-36 hours only. Your immune system is doing a great job!

I’m on day 5 now. I only had a 24 or just less period of feeling really ill.

I felt ill. Had a day where I felt completely better. Then ill again. It’s a funny virus but hopefully it was just 24 hours for you.

I was feverish for 24 hours then it was just like a cold.

That's reassuring, thank you!

Maybe I spoke too soon, because have a bit of a cough now and beginning to feel wiped out again, but compared to yesterday this is much better, so fingers crossed that was the worst of it.

Yes, I was exactly the same in March. I had a day of feeling just like you described, and woke up feeling fine the next day. I kept expecting it to get worse again but it never did. I also tested negative pretty quickly, got a faint positive on day 3 and completely negative by day 5. Hopefully you'll be the same!
