Hi.

Currently on day 15 after testing positive. Symptoms started day before I started new job. My role is WFH so managed to work first week. It just felt like I had a minor hangover. However after 7 days it totally floored me and I could hardly get out of bed. I’m now day 15 and whilst my sense of smell is slightly returning I remain the same in terms of headaches, fatigue, stiff neck, sore joints etc. I have tried to log in to work today and there’s no way I can return to work tomorrow. I use a computer and it was so difficult to even use the keyboard and look at the monitor. Really concerned as this doesn’t look good in my new role. Thankfully my new role is an internal secondment so my employer can see my previous work history. Typically I hadn’t had a day off in 6 years.
I think I would just like some reassurance things are going to start improving soon.
Thanks

Thanks everyone. I’ve been advised by my peers not to go back yet as the work is immense and the hours are long. Will give it a few days and see how I feel! It’s just reassuring to hear it’s normal. I was probably stupid working through the first week.

It took 4 months for me to feel better but was back working from day 14.

It was a good month for me before I totally got over it. But I was lucky as I happened to be going to a hot country on the fifth week, and the sunshine definitely finished it off!

Hi. I’m not taking vitamin D. I will look into getting some. The fatigue is unreal. Hope you’re better now @Keepdistance

Thank you @Porcupineinwaiting, work have been great so far. I work within the health care sector so things aren’t great and the pressure on the team is immense at the moment. I think that is adding to my anxieties. I just want to be able to return to share the work.

If you are lucky you should be able to go back to work in another week. But the best way to get there is to rest now. It is totally normal to take several weeks to recover and trying to rush it will only make things worse. If your employer is any good at all they'll understand.
