So shutting down everything but keeping schools open.AIBU to think that a lockdown should involve schools closing as well.Have been about six cases in my dds secondary zero social distancing and is just defeating the object of a lockdown as it has now been proven that schools, colleges etc can easily spread the virus.

@LolalovesLondon

"I wear a mask because I have to"
Fact.
It is the law. It applies to everyone. In public inside spaces (other than schools).

I do because I have to. I wouldn't if I didn't have to. I don't give a shit whether anyone else does.
Opinion about the fact. Not everyone shares your opinion. It doesn’t apply to everyone. Certainly not me.

"i wear a mask because I have to" and "I do because I have to" both mean exactly the same thing.

Why are you bleating on about it not applying to everyone I haven't said it does?

Why are you trying to start an argument over two sentences which mean the same god damn fucking thing!!!!

Trust: Yeah because people are spouting utter bollocks

I agree. Pot. Kettle.

No dear, I am not trying to tell you youve said two different things when in fact you've said the same thing.

Another argument for schools staying open:

The closure of schools as a result of COVID-19 lockdown measures may have harmed children as child abuse was not reported, a new study examining the numbers of child protection referrals made in the first few months of 2020 has found.

And this:

British children could lose £40,000 of their potential lifetime earnings unless UK governments can repair the gaps in learning caused by this year’s coronavirus school closures, according to a worst-case scenario published by the Royal Society.

I cannot understand how Teachers are putting up with this. Why are you not contacting the HSE about your working conditions? Why is your health more expendable than say a publicans or hairdressers ? Why aren't your unions protecting their members?

They are trying Bailey

I've been deleted by MNHQ for just this. Wondering if they have a work experience moderator, though that would be rude to teenagers. Hmm

Oh are we starting with this again. Totally fine to be nasty if you're a teacher but not allowed an opinion if you're only a mere mortal. It's disgusting.
@NiceTwin we don't have the space for that unfortunately. 2,000 kids take up a lot of room !
We are 275 per year group but in a new(ish) purpose built school, not old buildings that have been added to.
It helps!

No, unless you are happy for a lots of women to probably lose their jobs as someone needs to 'homeschool', and am sure employers will look at who is being most productive. I feel really angry that people who are either sahm parents or have jobs that allow ability to work flexibly from home dont care that it will throw hundreds of thousands into poverty / crisis if primary aged children are locked out of school. 1000 people applied for a waitering job, thats how bad things are in the job market already.

We are not being protected and it's disgusting.

You are protected by staying 2m away from pupils and staff, or 1m away for less than 15 minutes, which you can do quite easily.
