Support thread for those affected in Italy

Don't know if there is another's thread but couldn't find one!
This a thread for everyone currently affected by school closures/lockdown in Italy. Please don't post any scare stories. More interested in how you are coping day to day with lack of routine/homeschooling etc because we are going off the rails a bit! DS 10 is very anxious and keeps telling everyone it is the end of the world. Help!!

A friend of mine is in a Red Zone and was planning to fly home to England tomorrow for her father's funeral. The airport isn't locked down but she can't get to it. So distressing for her 😔

Yes, we are doing some homework but finding it hard to concentrate and DS is very reluctant to do schoolwork! Anyone else around?

I am not in Italy but my niece and her partner are living in a lockdown area..I can't help.much but wanted to reply.
I do think the psychogical effects of quarantine are not given enough attention. There has been quite a lot of research on it and I think you need to expect some emotional fallout . Your poor DS is processing all of this. Is there anyway you could come up with a routine together that means your days have some structure ? Do you have any outside space ? Even a balcony. If you do I'd plan to spend some time each day together playing a game of some ( card etc) or drawing or.reading in the open air ( maybe after clearing up after
lunch or after dinner.

Have you been out with the kids at all? We have been to the park (trying to keep our distance!) but that's it. I have to go back to work next week apparently which I think is a bit stupid as I could work from home but I'm not allowed. My teenager will be babysitting his siblings.

We are in the UAE where schools, universities and nurseries are closed for at least 4 weeks. We are lucky in that we have a nanny at home so I haven't (yet) had to take any time off work, but the weather is starting to get warm and I'm worried about the kids (1yr and 4yr) being cooped up inside all day!
