Ideas for 2 small nephews

Stuck for ideas for 2 small children, 5 and 3. The family is very 'wholesome', so no plastic toys, character toys, video games etc.
I'll get them a few books which is my area of expertise but they don't seem to read a lot.
They're quite outdoorsy and into quite educational gifts.
Please help 🙏🏻

I don’t think the Nat Geo dig kits are suitable for children that young.

Ask if they have a Yoto or Tony player, and then you could get Yoto's/Tony's for that.
Or a Hape pocket swing, Dr Ziggs bubble set (it's eco friendly and there are various accessories), Tegu wooden magnetic blocks, Haba wooden marble run (or Lidl usually do their own version before Christmas), a Haba board game. Have a look on places like Little Whispers, Yes Bebe, Baba Me, Babi Pur, for eco friendly toy ideas.

I think a few books each is more than enough, could include some nature activity type book. Do they have a play kitchen? Maybe some wooden food. A wooden human body puzzle for the 5-year-old. A magnetic wooden fishing game. Wooden robot. If they have a Brio trainset, an extension they don't have. A Miniland doll - not wooden but anatomically correct and racially diverse, and it's packaged in cardboard.

I know it's plastic but Playmobil and Lego are great toys and last years. We still have my Lego I had as a child, so around 40 years old and it's absolutely useable. I think Lego even has a recycle scheme nowadays.

Are they so anti plastic they would even sneer at good quality plastic stuff like Lego and Playmobil?
Cos they are great for that age.

While I admit they are plastic, Schleich models make a lovely gift (are aren't cheap and disposable, they can last for generations). My dds collected the dinosaurs at that age.

The Melissa and Doug magic set is excellent and would be good for the older dc.

I just bought these tipping pouring bowls from LTTLE GOAT GRUFF for a 3 year old. Bath toys are always a winner.
last year it was wooden biscuits from Jacques toys that puzzled her for a minute but then became firm favourites.
Brio or Big Jig train accessories.
