Hi,

So my dad doesn't really have hobbies. Is very 'blokey bloke', so no skin care etc. I suppose his only hobbies are beer, wine and rugby. He doesn't want to go to a live match, so that's out. Prefers to watch from home.

I usually get him clothes, puzzles, books. - that kind of thing. He's had flying experiences in the past, which he enjoyed.

I'm just completely thrown. Any ideas?..

TIA

Beer subscription? My wife got my dad that, last year, and he loved it!

My dads the same age. This year I'v got him a nice scarf as he does enjoy going out for walks etc. I'm going to put that with some alcohol and nice mugs too.

I'v got him molton brown shower gels in the past which he's really liked too.

National trust plant five trees ( or more) in his name for their new forests that they are planting. At 70 he probably doesn’t need any more stuff, so drinks plus trees should cover it.

The best present I bought DH who is in his 70’s was a pair of binoculars but we do regularly go for walks so that might not work for your Dad. Something to do with his Rugby team. Some sort of subscription a magazine subscription maybe?

I know it’s a cliché but does he like aftershave. Many men who don’t do products still like to smell nice.

My dds get me a calendar every year with photos of the family from the year gone by. I think Photobox and other online stores do these. I absolutely love it because it means I can always see pictures of them.

Magazine subscription? Especially if there’s a rugby one he enjoys, or readly on the kindle. My dad got furry lined tracksuit bottoms for walking the dog, Velcro trainers (starting to struggle with laces) and some jigsaws. Oh and some fudge. And a Rupert bear calendar 😂

@heregoes74, I’ve bought one of these for my Dad too! I think they’re beautiful. He’s late 70s and loves birds and nature. My parents moved house earlier this year into a new build with new garden so I’m hoping he’ll like this little addition!

I used to make mine a food hamper. He was much more adventurous with food than mum.

Ginger biscuits
Dark chocolate
Eccles cakes/fruitcake
Spicy nuts
Interesting stir fry/curry sauces
Pickled chillies
Bottle of wind or a selection of real ales

He also liked DVDs of old movies...Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, Westerns and classic musicals, anything about planes, trains, travel, jazz or wildlife.

I'm really missing shopping for him this year. Mum is much harder to buy for!
