Hello.
I am a dad in need of some help. If this isn't the right forum please direct me to the right place on this site.

My youngest daughter aged 7 is clearly on the ASD spectrum but we don't yet have a diagnosis. We were just starting to have hospital appointments and meetings to start the process but everything ground to a halt due to the Corona virus (which is understandable).

We are struggling at home to cope with meltdowns and all of us, me, my wife and our eldest daughter (aged 8) spend our days treading on egg shells to avoid melt downs.
School have done a lot and she had been in temporary tailor made provision and had been subject to a part time time table and an EHCP.

My question is: are there any support groups for parents or there in the North Derbyshire, South Sheffield area?

I need some help and advice.
As much at I love her I am starting to get very frustrated and resentful (I know that that sounds bad).

Thanks.

A good suggestion to ask MN to move your thread to the SN boards, someone over may know if one.

Was the part time timetable prior to Covid? If so, it is illegal. If the school can't meet your DD's needs then an emergency review of the EHCP needs to be called, and either a change of placement or additional provision in the current school.

I have an adult DC (21) with ASD and a 2 year old DC being assessed but told most likely.

You are not a bad parent for feeling frustrated and resentful. I am currently sitting in my car, in a shop car park, close to tears with my 2 year old having a meltdown in her car seat. We lasted less than a minute before I had to remove her from the shop.

Hi there I have two with ASD one diagnosed one awaiting diagnosis. So hard at the moment all structure and routine has gone. We too are struggling massively I feel very claustrophobic while trying to keep our children calm. My own mental health is suffering. Am unsure about support have you tried the national Autistic Society helpline?

I would ask for your message to be moved to special needs chat, there is much support on that board.

I hope things improve for you it's so difficult.
