Dd self harming again?

Dd (14) started self harming a few months ago, thought she had grown out of it got happier only to see cuts on her wrists again today . I'm disappointed and angry, don't know what to do if I'm honest. Should I get her counselling? Or do it through her school? Don't want to bring it up to her, she can get angry very easily.

BUMP
I am watching this thread, as I am hoping you will get advice. I am in the same boat with my 11 yr son. I don't know what to do for the best! We had to fight for 2 years to be seen by CAHM (lack of funds), who signed us off after our first appointment. He stopped sh, but we weren't really given any advice how to deal with this, but today I saw marks all up his arm again!! Tried to speak to him about it but he doesn't want too, and was getting too upset!! I don't want to pressurise him!

I definately think that you need to have a chat with her. From the fact that they're in a place that are so visible, it could be that this is a cry for help. Have she an aunt or anyone that she might be close to that could help you talk to her about it?

The only other thing I would say is that self-harm is not something you grow out of. It's a coping mechanism that can be and is used by all ages. Counselling can be gotten from the GP or there are lots of charities that offer it but it is definately something you need to be open about with her as well
