Car seat blankets

Hi everyone
Could I have some recommendations for blankets that go into baby's car seat to keep them warm in the absence of using a coat please? I'm aware there are some that are not recommended but others have been safety tested for use in a car seat.
I've seen the Morckk (sp?), which seems good, but I was wondering whether there were any others worth considering?

I've got a Morrck - I got it from the baby show 2 years ago.

It's good to have in the car seat in winter because you're not meant to have baby in a puffy coat or anything and as PP said I just left it on the pushchair in the car because I always used to forget a blanket.

I think you can get cheaper ones, I see a lot of handmade ones on Facebook groups but I'd rather have a safety tested one as you cant ever be too careful - I read once that a baby choked on fluff from a handmade blanket!

Have you seen the tuppence and crumble star blankets? Sound similar to the poncho you describe and is really easy to put baby into and thin enough to wear in car seat. Plus, they're really, really cute!

I was given a hand me down Morrck blanket with my first (I think my DD was the 3rd baby to have used it!) and it was fantastic - I just had it in the car seat all the time. As a winter baby it stopped me ever having to think about whether I'd remembered a blanket or not. Got myself a new one this time as I liked it so much.

As others say, not an essential but it was a nice to have.

Thanks, I'll have a look. When my dd was born 10 year ago, she was the most bad tempered little winter baby who shrieked every time I went near her with anything that had sleeves. She used to have me so flustered trying to get her in the car that I ended up investing in a little baby poncho to quickly throw over her just so I didn't have to grapple with sleeves. This baby is due the end of August and I'd visualised the same type of battles if he's anything like her temperament-wise so that's why I'm trying to think ahead.

We had one gifted to us, it was made by a wahm who sells on Facebook. It was lovely, called a carblankie I think.

No, I haven't seen any other like the Morrck that stay in the car seat. I never sure the point of them with DD but am now expecting twins and can see that they could be useful especially if they are both 'kickers' like DD was.

You're over thinking it op. Any blanket will do. Get Aunty Joan to crochet you one, or grandma to knit one of you like - they'll like that.

I assume you are referring to the fact that costs should be removed when a baby is strapped into the car seat, because loosening the seatbelt to accommodate the cot makes it less safe. The seatbelt should for the child body, not the bulk of clothing or blankets.

So the answer is very simple, add a blanket over baby after bring strapped into the car seat.

This can be any blanket. Nothing special required.
