Recommend me a HBB

DD is 4 and getting near 18kg (limit of Energy Pro).

We don't own a car, so criteria are:

safe(!)
lightweight / luggable on trains / to the pub etc
quick and idiot proof to secure in whatever taxi / hire car turns up
not insanely expensive

Ooo I've just remembered we've got Halfords in town. I don't have much cause to go there usually, but I can get there easily. I assume they sell car seats - it's not car-accessible though.

We've got one retailer (independent) locally, but it's a bus and train ride away and I'll need to go on a Saturday when it'll probably be busy. So I want to do my research first!

There are just so many on the market, I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone had any ideas to start off with.

When you say high safety rating, what do you mean? Which? Or are there other scores?

I'd second the Britax Adventure, or for an ISOFIX version the Discovery SL.

Could you go into your local mothercare and discuss with them your requirements and see what they come up with?

In your position I would try and get a high safety rating one but the lightest one on the market

Friends have the britax adventure which is a nice lightweight HBB, seems sturdy and easy to fit.

That looks like a great seat - I might get it when the time comes. However the colourways other than black are shocking!!!

Its not what the op wants though I'd have thought.

See, that's the thing. Going by train, carrying the car seat for the taxi the other end, is safer than hiring s car and getting on the motorway because the seat is too heavy to carry.

I could just get in a taxi with no seat, but my risk if taxi crash vs faff of taking seat assessment comes down on the side of carrying a lightish seat.

Isofix is going to be ££ and weight that I just won't use.
