Formula feeding on a day out

Can someone please explain to me how I take formula feeds out for the day as there is so much different advice and I am getting extremely confused.

My older family members said that years ago, they just used to take bottles with ready cooled boiled water in them, add the powder when baby was ready and heat up the bottle in hot water. However I was under the impression that the powder had to be mixed with boiling water to kill off any bacteria?

Its baffling my brain slightly haha!

I used to take hot water in a vacuum flask and then formula in a tub already measured and make up the formula that way. It's what the NHS website recommends to do :)

Use cartons of readymade formula, and take sterilised bottles.

I took 2 flask type bottles. Yeah me with cooled boiled water and one with boiling water. Measured out the formula in a tub before going out. When out put boiling water in bottle, added formula and then cooled water. It was a bit of a faff but it’s the only way I could do it.

Others also told me to just make it up with boiling water but how would you ever guarantee it would be at the right temp. My DD also wouldn’t drink the premade stuff and it’s so expensive anyway.

Im old so would have taken made up bottles out OR bought made up formula but that used to be pricey. Nowadays you take a flask of water and a tub of formula but I can't work out how you would cool it down enough for baby!

I think it was the chilly’s bottles I bought btw so not an actual thermos flask. Kept the boiling water hot enough for a few hours.

I've always taken empty sterilised bottles and the ready made cartons of formula.

One flask of boiling water, put into sterile bottle add powder ( can get little sectioned tubs) then I have little bottles of pre measured cold shots that I take out in a little cold bag with ice block or if out all day one clean bottle to measure cold water into from a flask

I always just bought ready made. So much easier than carting flasks and powder around. And it's ready straight away.

It was more expensive, but for occasional use just while away from home it wasn't too bad.

I think a made up bottle last for 2(?) hours at room temperature (double check with what it says on your formula box!). So if I was popping out somewhere nearby sometimes I would make one up at home and take it with me.
