To think everyone should try and become an influencer

Quite a few people I know on a personal level are really promoting themselves as influencers on Instagram.
They talk about hair, make up, renovations, events and associate themselves with other “influencers”, for extra promo.
When will the influencer market become saturated and start to decline? Or perhaps maybe we should all try and become an insta star to see can we make an extra bit of money on the side?
Current and future generations are likely to say “when I grow up I want to be an influencer?”.
Is this new career madness or genius?

It’s a bit vulgar though isn’t it? I’d be embarrassed if either of my children carried on like that. Oversharing and attention seeking.

It just seems to me that this option as a career is more prevalent now. Surely it's not sustainable longterm?

I think eventually it will decline. It was the same story with banners, surfing, guest posts, product reviews. when all above appeared it was a boom and a lot of advertisers got there ans spent a lot of money on that kind of advertising. I don't know if they were in gin but normal folks got a chance to earn some extra cash. They the method stopped worked working as good as before (public got into advert blindness zone) and advertisers started to withdraw... Same will be with Instagram as well. It's not something uniquely special to not to follow the pattern...
