HAHAHAHA ONLY JOKING!!

TA-DA!!!! I'M FINALLY HERE after much moaning on Twitter and a lost application, Mumsnet have fast-tracked my application and I'm now officially a "Mumsnet Blogger". What have I let myself in for??

Some of you may already know me, in which case "Hi" - make yourselves known.
Some of you may never have heard of me, in which case "Hi" - where the frig have you been for the past two years?
Some of you may know me from a previous life where I had a different username, in which case "Hi" - and sssshhhh we don't talk about that any more.
Some of you may know me in real life, in which case "Hi" - isn't it time you rang me and we arranged a coffee date?
Some of you have probably clicked off by now and though "weirdo", in which case "Bye".

I have been described as Tigger, Quirky and The Queen of Rants. I blog at Typecast

Interested to see what you'd call it then?

Right, I've come to see what all the fuss is about. It's not really polite to barge into any established community and slag them off, now is it?

Well, there you go 20something you've clearly 'misread' your audience. This is MN not NM.

Only back once more to defend myself sigh

"Since you are obviously blackmouthing us on Twitter, and bringing your friends here then I for one am going to stand with Tee and Purple and say that your behaviour is not without blame. "

I am stating how I feel on my own twitter account - if you don't follow me then you won't have to read it. I have asked no-one to visit here other than to read the thread in its entirety to get a feel for the situation then they can make their own minds up - I believe that's the fairest option, yes? I expect no-one but me to fight my battles. I need no army but I think the support I'm receiving speaks volumes.

"I think Typecast's USP is that she is witty, funny and has a sense of humour. Something clearly lacking here."

And how would you know that exactly? What with you never having posed here before this...

you have no idea about Mumsnet whatsoever.

Wow.

So, I don't know anyone involved here, either on Twitter or in real life. But WOW. This thread is a FANTASTIC example of everything that is wrong with Mumsnet.

The OP can definitely be taken a number of ways, but in what world is it acceptable to react in such a nasty way, to a post that you think is innapropriate? Are you all teaching your children these delightful ways to behave?

I've avoided Mumsnet in the past because of the 'We're outspoken and say what we like, but it's fine because we're just being honest, if you don't like it, go elsewhere' attitude. And this sums it up to a T.

If people acted like this in real life, you'd all be alone and friendless.

Mumsnet, if you're reading, you've got a real problem on your hands with your forum. A very press-worthy problem.

You know what. Blogging is a narcissistic occupation. It can get very navel-gazingly boring, especially when one is overly interested in awards or stats. I won't pretend not to read my stats, but I don't get excited about them. In fact, I deleted a post that was getting hundreds of hits a day because of privacy issues.

As for awards, I have never had one. As far as I can see, one puts oneself forward (or a friend does) and then one tweets about being so surprised that one has been nominated, then one starts asking (or begging) for votes on twitter or on the blog.

Yes, I agree that there were faults on both sides here, but the bashing and bitching on Twitter is really not nice. No one is coming out of this looking good tbh. Which is why I am going to bow out now.

If you want to read a very excellent blog post, I would suggest you read this one. It would be a much better use of your time than sniping at each other all over the internet.

Awards sound good, but there's only 1 you name above. (unless you count runner-up?)
But 7000 uniques pcm isn't really all that hot. By contrast I am getting 10,000+ uniques pcm worldwide on 1 post a week, highly specialised field though, definitely no blog-rings involved.

But recommended by bounty tells me all I need to know- don't think your blog will be for me, regardless how high quality your writing may be! Wink

20* don't bother I've found it. OP I apologise compared with the drivelling self obsessed tweets etc that some others so keen to self promote, your efforts are wonderful.

Really? Funny how nobody else has issues navigating it.

And meh? Cool.

I'm not a Netmums user, I'm on their blog list but not a forum lurker.

Oh and forgot to add to earlier list- spearheaded the UK "boycott Amazon" campign- you know, the one where their share price fell for the first time ever. Also went on the BBC World Service to debate it- they called me, not the other way round.

Just thought I'd add that.

I am reading this thread whilst attempting to proofread something. It has lots of quotes from Hamlet. Somehow they all seem appropriate. I am pasting them in to raise the tone Grin

The friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel. (1.3)

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. (1.4)

These are but wild and whirling words, my lord. (1.5)

I love the way you (all these new posters who have 'avoided Mumsnet in the past') feel free to come on here and post their ill informed opinions on the basis of one thread.

MN is so much more than an advertising platform for your dull and rather pedestrian blogs and you are quite right Beggar78, we are outspoken and if you don't like it there are plenty of other places on the Internet to go to.

I think you'll find that threats regarding the press are inconsequential on here, we already get slagged off plenty in the media.

Oh 20something! Please, please stop. We get it. Your penis is huuuuuuuuge. You must stop shouting about how awesome you are though. Really. Tis never a good look. Have some Wine - I mean it.

I actually kind of want you to stay now, for some reason Grin but I have a suspicion you won't. Ah, well.

So, er, it appears 20something just came over here for a deliberate ruck. And yet, somehow, we are the ones with too much time on our hands.
