i keep tinkering with my blog, and adding and deleting widgets. Which widgets do you find actually useful and reader friendly?

I have the following, and have placed them in order of importance.

  • Linkwithin (shows related posts at the bottom of blog post, and creates a lot of clickthroughs)
  • Recent Posts + Top Posts (I use the same gadget for both, set for all time top posts, and top posts of the last seven days)
  • Search Box
  • Tag Cloud - looks lovely and is quite useful too
  • If you are a food blogger, it's worth getting in with Petitchef and Foodbuzz. Pop their links at the bottom of your blog and they won't even interfere with your look.
  • Pages - useful for keeping the overall look of your blog uncluttered.

HTH!

I'm going to be working on my client's blog next week and testing all widgets, so I'll let you know!

Yes, tag cloud and recent posts both good, and I have also just added a 'popular posts' type widget, which I like so far. I did it because I had a post that got a bigger response than usual, and I wanted it to still be easy to find after it slipped down off the recent posts list.

The tag cloud - I think it's such a clever but simple way of getting information across quickly. And it looks good.

I quite like having the recent posts at the top of my blog. Think it makes it easier for readers to go through my blog.

Erm so far that's my most useful widget not sure what to do with the others!
