Twitter for Bloggers

MmeLindor. · 29/06/2011 21:31

I thought those of us on Twitter could give some tips for any bloggers currently too scared not yet on Twitter.

Twitter can be fantastic for upping your blog hits - but you do need to invest a little bit of time. You need some followers. The good thing is that once you have a couple of followers, it is relatively easy to get some more, particularly if you are a MNetter.

Have a look at my twitter blog post, and I will add some more stuff about bloggers.

I'm @Karamina on Twitter. I love Twitter. It's like Mumsnet but with (even more) oddballs.

Thank you Flamingo!

Am on a mac, and I keep having to C&P hashtags from others' tweets Blush

I am not a blogger, let alone a mummy blogger. (though I am a mummy...)

I am not sure why anyone follows me at all tbh... yet they do Grin

Cause you are fab, Swanker.

I don't have a dodgy keyboard, I was on iPhone app. Maybe # don't work on that. Will annoy contact Tech.

I want to stop cars and tell them that someone in the glen twittered on the internet.

A car may pass sometime next week, but I will pounce.

GO I don't write anything cool. Really.

GO
Don't. They will look at you as if you had announced that you were from Mars. Reminds me of this where the fishermen are missing a friend and someone suggests that he has sold his fish online. The others are convinced that he has fallen victim to sharks (haie).

"As if you are from Mars" is what most of my friends would look at me like if I said I was on Mumsnet.

No honestly, I could not do cool if it walked in an kicked me up the bum.

I burned the tea and everything because of twitter.

Thought of another tip!

Make sure your profile bio actually tells ppl about you. When ppl follow me, I'm very unlikely to follow them back if I don't know who they are. You only need to put interests or something - something that someone can link to IYSWIM.

Tee2072 · 01/07/2011 20:24

That's a really good point Flamingo. I hardly ever follow someone without a profile.

MmeLindor. · 01/07/2011 20:52

Good point, Flamingo. And link to your blog on your profile.

You and ShirleyKnot should get together. She has a thing for Edame. Or however you spell it. Grin

OMG I'm supposed to twitter too??

I just about find time to blog and read other blogs and comment.

Does anyone find all this like actual work??

Report
Tee2072 · 03/07/2011 21:00

Actually, Butterfly, this is my actual work! I do Twitter/Facebook/web site/blog updates for my clients.

Busman's holiday for me!!

I am much more interesting than any of them, though. Grin

Oh wow Tee had no idea that it could be a paid job! Envy
I guess I'm finding it hard to keep up to date with everything and look after the little ones.

I'd love to concentrate more on my own stuff, but those pesky kids! Grin

It's not all I do, I'm a graphic artist for print and online but my largest client base involves twitter et al. I do the pretty and the uptodate!

Aw thanks Tee :) I just write rambly shit. If it's the prawn cracker one then I made the word "edamame" link through but I think I need to make it big and obvious and "look here, crazy edamame woman".

OK, so I've finally got around to signing up to twitter (not under my regular MN name though). I'm following MmeLindor, Tee and newbabynewmum, and am following and have sent requests to a few others from the previous twitter thread.

Could someone please explain how 'follow friday', and the etiquette for it, actually works? I know the concept is to find new people to follow/be followed by but I don't quite understand how you get to that point Confused

I'm planning to restart my blog and slowly get up to speed in twitter so I can start cross fertilising them. If anyone would be interested in looking me up that I haven't already stalked followed from the other thread please do!

Newbabynewmum · 07/07/2011 20:49

On Friday use the hashtag and then ff after it and then include various people. You can write a reason or just put a list. It's kind of like advertising your friends/interesting people that you follow to others.

I don't do it every Friday but I do try and remember. It's quite a nice thing to do & can help likeminded people connect together.

Hope that makes a bit of sense!
