Scratching everything in the night!!

Hoping someone can help me on here because nothing seems to be working. My DD is 6 months old in 3 days!! And since she was born she has always scratched her head when she’s tired/dropping off to sleep. The last month or so she has moved to still scratching her head but scratching her legs, baby grow, me, her bed sheet but it’s still mainly her head, I’ve tried scratch mits and socks on her hands but she just gets them off within about 5 minutes. I also trim her nails about twice a week but she still manages to make herself bleed, we’ve tried child’s farm itchy scalp shampoo, baby oil massaged onto head and also nothing at all used in the bath but she still seems to do it, it’s a comfort thing I’m guessing but what do we do! She’s a very stirry baby in the night and probably wakes up 2/3 times if not more but can’t leave her to self soothe as she’ll scratch her head to pieces. Any advice would be really helpful TIA x

Thanks so much for your responses I’m so glad I’m not alone with this. It’s just hard to let her self soothe at the moment with her constantly scratching her head, When she stirs me or my partner have to go up to her so she doesn’t make herself bleed, she has pretty much done it from a new born so I’m hoping she will just grow out of it, Thankyou for your help guys x

This was my DD until she was 6-7 months and she eventually just grew out of it. She was wearing socks up past her elbows at night because she would scratch her head and neck constantly and when we changed her, she would furiously scratch her chest. We found an aveeno soothing cream helped a bit, but other than that we just found nothing worked and we just had ride it out x

I'm really sorry I don't have the answers but I'm here because I'm very much interested in this. My 3mo old does the same thing, scratches her right side of her head behind her ears kind of - always the same place. She does have eczema but tbh isn't generally bothered by it (as in of she doesnt scratch anywhere else) so I don't think its that. Like you I think it's a comfort thing but she's waking up and I'm finding blood all on her baby grow. I've tried mitts too and shes learnt to poke a finger out then can generally get the rest out! X
