Our 2 year old (26 mths) boy keeps repeating the words "where's daddy?" or "where's mummy?" when either of us go out or even go into another room within the house. It's mainly when either of us are not at home. He's now started to say "where's brother?" (we have a 5yo boy too). He repeats this same question 50 (or even more) times a day! Even after answering his question or explaining in many different ways, he keeps asking. It's as if it doesn't register in his mind.
The same applies to bedtime - he just won't sleep without mummy being present in the room. He will even try to escape from the room if mummy is not there. Keeps asking "where's mummy?" if daddy is putting him to sleep. If mummy is putting him to bed, he'll ask "where's daddy?".
We are really confused what to do. Should we visit our GP? Could it be a mental disorder of some kind? It's like severe separation anxiety but his brain doesn't seem to register the response. Getting really worried about him now.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation?
