Feel like a bad mum

I feel like such a bad mum, after a very hard day behaviour wise with my DS he's just had another meltdown and punched me for what seems the millionth time today, his behaviour is so aggressive and CAMHS referral is taking so long, well I lost it and smacked his bottom and just screamed at him, I feel so awful that I've got to the end of my tether with him.
I've just snuck in his bedroom while he's asleep and cuddled him for the last 10 minutes and cried like a baby 😥

He’s punched you, now I don’t know what age your child is but sometimes a smacked bottom is needed.
Kids will only get away with what you allow, you allow to be punched, remember your boy will get bigger and stronger than you one day, that some parents forget when they say oh you shouldn’t smack kids, do you think sending him to a naughty step woulda made a difference? No he’d still be kicking off trying to punch you.
You’re still a human being and you have emotions too..even lionesses and female dogs take a swipe at their cubs and pups when they push it to far

What you’ve done is tell your boy, you are not his punchbag, you won’t tolerate being punched. He maybe think twice about doing it again.

Now camhs has a waiting list of up to a year in some places, you have to be patient

Hi. I don't have anything to add to the previous post but I just wanted to say that I hope you are feeling better about things and get some support soon. I've had a difficult few days with my son's behaviour (another parent told me today that I should leave the park because he kept shouting at the other kids - he's 4). I'm sure you are doing a great job. We all mess up sometimes

Flowers

Today was a bad day, but it's only one day amongst the hundreds when you've been patient. Take it as a lesson learned (you'll know next time when you're going to lose it you need to just walk away even if you have to lock yourself in the bathroom) and start again tomorrow.

Perhaps try the SN board if you haven't already for some advice while you're waiting on CAMHS.
