7 year old messing pants

In desperate need of advice please. My 7 year old ds is constantly messing his boxers. We have had consistently had problems since we potty trained him. Rather than poo in his pants properly, we have more of touching cloth (but enough to need to soak his pants) I thought we resolved this last year as we went 6 months without accident. But since December we have accidents at least 4 times a week. We have tried reward charts, threats, taking favourite toys away, ignoring the behaviour, I've cried, shouted and even threatened the return of nappies! I am now at the end of my tether. I'm more worried he doesnt seem to learn the behaviour is wrong. We've been to the drs, with nothing wrong. He seems to never want to miss out on stuff which is why he doesn't go when he initially feels the urge. Please please help me. I'm starting to worry there is something wrong with him! Am I being harsh or is this a fight not worth worrying about as he'll grow out of it. Ultimately he wants to go on Beaver camp but I'm so worried he'll end up in such a state I'm reluctant to let him go. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

You need to stay really calm about this, don't make it an issue, no punishment and no telling off. Just make it his responsibility to clean up, he has to stop what he's doing, clean him, pants in the wash, new pants. Teach him that takes more time and effort than just going to the loo to start with. Also plenty of fluids and fibre to make him soft and regular so he can't ignore the urge so easily, reminders to visit the loo if he's breaking wind and if there is a regular time he is tending to go.

Gigantic daily poos are a sign of Chronic constipation, as the bowl has expanded bits can overflow around the blockage.

Did you check ERIC website. A lot of useful advice there. I would look for a second opinion or ask for referral to pediatrician (my son is 5 and we are under pediatrician care for similar issues, although constipation related). Keep strong... this is so frustrating...

Unfortunately it's not. He does a normal (all be it very big) poo everyday. We've been to the GP and he didn't think anything was wrong.

Sounds like Constipation, a trip to the GP is in order.
