Is she a camila?

Throughout the worlds loneliest pregnancy, I've struggled to find a connection to a name that I love for my baby. Baby girl arrived yesterday , after a very difficult labour which resulted in a uterine scar rupture and emergency section, whilst without a birth partner. I would always flit between camilla and camille. Camille I've now ruled out and was wondering if I'm actually brave enough to use camilla as everyone seems to make the Royal connection and she's not the most favoured woman.

Then today I came across camila and am wondering if this is the one? Name meanings are very important to me and I like that if she chooses to be known as just mila, mila means miracle which she is. Her middle name will be eve.

Please help me chose and or give me confidence in the name choice. I don't know why I'm still hesitant.

Her elder sister is orla, if that helps.

Is she a camila?

Orla and Camilla go well together as sisters.
I love Camilla Eve.

Go with the usual spelling.
Queen Consort Camilla is a practical, fun and charitable person who is outspoken on womens' issues such as osteoporosis and domestic abuse. Get your girls Jack Russells called Sandy and Dixie to embrace the name fully.

Also, as others say is Camila supposed to be pronounced the same as Camilla? I might pronounce Camila as ca-my-la.

I think people who make the royal connection are going to make it regardless of the double L or not.

I don't think the average person dislikes Camilla the queen consort. The affair was a while ago and things have moved on - also she's the type of person not to be outspoken or get involved in drama so I don't think there will be any big stories.

Sorry you went through a difficult time. Best wishes for the future!

Congratulations! Cute baby!
I think Camilla is a nice name. I'd spell it the more common way as it's annoying to correct people.

Camilla is perfect. Camila I'm unsure of because I don't know if there is a pronunciation difference to Camilla. Go with your heart, OP. She is beautiful and, to me, looks like a Camilla.

Is it the same as Camilla or Cam-eyela ?

It's Cam-ee-la, like Camila Cabello.

I'd also say no. Everyone will spell it Camilla and it will be annoying for her. It just looks misspelt.

Wow what a gorgeous daughter. She has such beautiful features. I think she definitely looks more like a Mila.

The biggest thing is please don’t be pressured into making any decisions. You’ve been through a very traumatic labour and you need time to settle into your new family dynamic and REST. You have six whole weeks to get to know her so please don’t feel pressured.

I had post partum anxiety after my daughter was born and picked a name from my shortlist in a rush, more to satisfy other people than myself :(. We soon realised she fitted one of our other names much better so ended up changing it. I really wish I’d have taken my time.

Camilla is nice. Carmen is nice too if you want an alternative.

Such a beautiful baby, congratulations OP! Hope you're feeling well x

I love camilla and Camille. Both are beautiful names.

Camilla Eve has a better rhythm to it than Camille Eve or Camila Eve.

I taught a Camilla years ago , I never realised because she was universally known as Millie, except on the computerised roll.

Congrats, she's gorgeous!

If it were me I would go with Camelia/Camellia instead. Sounds nicer and avoids the Camilla association.

@Longdarkcloud It's Cameela.

Confronted with Camila I really don’t know how to pronounce it.
Is it the same as Camilla or Cam-eyela ?
I don’t strongly associate the name with the Queen Consort and, anyway, her popularity is now reasonably high. The strong dislike has eased over the years.
So if you like it, use it.
If unsure you’ve got weeks to decide. Baby won’t be aware so you can practise using different names.
Im so sorry you had a hard delivery and hope you feel better soon. Congratulations on producing such an adorable baby girl. What does Orla think of her?
Very best wishes

Congratulations OP, what an absolutely beautiful baby girl.

Personally I don't like Camilla/Camila and I don't think it goes with Orla, which is a wonderful name.

Congratulations! She is absolutely beautiful. She definitely looks like Camilla Eve to me, and it's a beautiful name.
If you don't feel a connection to Camilla, she also looks like an Isobel.

I'd stick with Camilla. Cammie, Milla, Mille, Cam... Lots of nicknames that are all lovely as well.
I think Queen Consort Camilla is seen in a positive light nowadays, and your baby's contemporaries would only know her in her Queen role anyway.

Camilla is beautiful, Milla is a lovely nn. Easier spelling and same nn I think unless pronounced differently?
Congratulations and well done xx

Orla and Mila go well together.

Congratulations op and wishing you a gentle start.
I really like Camila and love Mila.
As a teacher, I can tell you that sometimes unusual spellings can be annoying but personally I think it's far more of a problem with a common name like Katie /Kateey as everyone is already so familiar with the spelling they have their preconceptions. Camilla is not common enough for the spelling to be that ingrained although if you do go for that spelling you will have to correct.
Camila due to the pop star reference comes across as more modern and Camilla more classic so something to consider. Also the pronunciation of Camila could be less obvious, as you've shown yourself with changing the mill sound to mee, so it's really just deciding how much hassle you want.
Mila is also beautiful as a stand alone name as well, (Is it Mila Kunis who's relatively current celebs wise?) so I think you should be happy with all of your choices.
Congratulations on your baby!

@Emz555 You could just use Mila which goes very well with Orla (in terms of how it looks/sounds). Yes the names have different ethnic origins but that really doesn’t matter if you love the name.

I’m sorry you had to go through a rough pregnancy/delivery. Wishing you strength and peace as you heal and recover. Flowers

Camilla is lovely but for me, the 'mealer/mealy' sound of the nicknames puts me off. (Mila)
