Help naming twin girls
39

EmmaToast · 01/08/2022 14:55

We recently found out we’re expecting twin girls. Me and DH are finding it hard to choose a name we both like that we can use. We already have a daughter called Freya Mai, and we aren’t ones to go for matchy or rhyming names, we just want to choose names that will sound nice together. We originally loved the name Piper, as we have watched Charmed and decided we would use the name if we had another girl, but DD now goes to school with a girl called Piper and we know the family so we felt we couldn’t use it anymore. We also liked Ava, but DD also goes to school with an Ava, but we don’t really know the family. We aren’t keen on Eva instead, but we do like Evie but I have heard it several times in our local area. Another name we like is Luna, but we have a neighbour who has a Luna. The only name on our list that we haven’t heard is Annora, which is very unusual but I’m not sure if it goes with Freya or any of our other name choices. Which names would you say would be fine to use? I’m completely stuck on what to name our twins, please help.

They are all popular names so I wouldn’t worry about using. However all the Eve and Ell names are way overused (An Eliana is likely going to end up Ellie or Ella whether you like it or not). I don’t like Luna because Loony. Piper is ok but a bit low rent.

Keep it short and sweet for twins and different initials. I nearly didn’t use our favourite name Because there’s one in dd1’s class, but then we just went with it and when I told the mum I’d used the name, she was pleased! It’s totally fine, although it’s a fairly popular name.

How about Pippa and Ada? Rather than Annora which I’m not keen on, how about Annie, Anna or Norah? Norah and Ada are lovely together with Freya.

I'd go for names that have different endings from Freya and from each other e.g.
Sadie and Astrid
Kate and Tess

Annora and Eliana. Would work well and I don't think are too of Freya personally. Also they grow up and become adults who are not only "Freyas sisters"

So go with names you like.

Piper is lovely! Use it. Your DD won’t be living her entire life with the older Piper, after all. In a few years the other Piper won’t even register.
lotsnof nice suggestions for Piper’s twin sister. Astrid and Annora are both great.

I have twins and would recommend trying out names by yelling them across a playground one after the other - you don't want anything long winded or complicated (or made up/spelt unconventionally)

After reading this I am very glad my baby twin girls names fit that bill 😅

Hope and Mercy

Nothing to do with Freya, I'm just shamelessly sneaking in two names I love 💘😀

I am addicted to the long-running radio series The Archers. There are new girl twins there at the moment, called Nova and Seren. Any good?
