Jem2016 · 20/11/2020 21:30
Shea is pronounced like ‘Shay’ and is the surname
DramaAlpaca · 20/11/2020 21:31
Sophia Shea. It's fabulous.
missmouse101 · 20/11/2020 21:40
Sophie without a doubt. Not the awful 'mealy' sound that is Amelia.
IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/11/2020 22:11
Sophia is lovely and sounds cool with Shea. Amelia has a less nice to me.
Firebird83 · 20/11/2020 22:17
Sophia Shea
MadameMiggeldy · 20/11/2020 22:17
You obviously love Sophia. Go with Sophia.
Jem2016 · 20/11/2020 22:29
Really like both. Feel that Amelia goes better with Shea, which was my concern in my previous post about Sophia x
BlurredLinesBlake · 20/11/2020 23:13
Amelia Shea sounds prettier
IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/11/2020 00:17
correction sound, sorry. Amelia has a less nice sound to me than Sophia.
TotalBitch · 21/11/2020 09:40
Amelia goes better with Shea, but I prefer the name Sophia! Sorry, that's so unhelpful!
Chilldonaldchill · 21/11/2020 09:51
With a very short surname like Shea it's my opinion that the full name would assume better if the first syllable of the first name is the emphasised one. So Amelie Shea or Sophie Shea sound better than either of your options.
But in all honesty once people have names very few other people say "oh that doesn't flow too well" - you just accept people's names don't you? I have loads of friends and colleagues who - if I sat down and analysed their first name/surname combo - I could come up with one that sounded better but I've never thought about it because they are who they are.
Go with the name you love. Neither of them is a horrible name, neither of them sounds ridiculous - pick your favourite and enjoy it!
ShirleyPhallus · 21/11/2020 09:52
Do you have to explain how Shea is pronounced?
If people constantly mispronounce it the sound Am-ee-lia Shee-a doesn’t quite go. Sophie nicer
twinketoes · 21/11/2020 09:53
Amelia Sophia Shea sounds great I think so have both. I also know of twins called Amelia and Sophia so to me they are equally pretty gorgeous names! My dd middle name is Sophie but sometimes wish it was Sophia it just didn't go with first name so well.
sherrystrull · 21/11/2020 09:59
I think Sophia Shea is lovely
HillaryWhitney · 21/11/2020 10:18
Sorry but I personally think Amelia is awful. Sophia is a great name.
twinketoes · 21/11/2020 10:21
Also the Amelia I know is mostly called Mimi which really suits her and is a sweet nickname!
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/11/2020 10:22
Amelia Shea sounds better to me.
firesong · 21/11/2020 10:52
I don't like Amelia for some reason, but I like it when it's spelt Emilia. Not that it matters, it's you who has to like it!
I prefer the name Sophia but I think Amelia flows better with Shea.
Enderline · 21/11/2020 11:25
Amelia Shea is much nicer.
TotalBitch · 21/11/2020 11:29
Yeah, you could also go Emilia Shea. They are very similar when I say them, but I know Emilia goes down a lot better on MN than Amelia! Both are nice names. Popular, but then so is Sophia, so I don't imagine popularity bothers you very much. It wouldn't bother me either FWIW.
MercyBodle · 21/11/2020 11:34
Sophia is fabulous with Shea, (better than Amelia), and is a much nicer and more interesting name than Amelia.
TickTickClock · 24/11/2020 23:04
I prefer Sophia as a name, but Sophia Shea sounds far too close to Sophie O'Shea. Say them both out loud, one after the other, and you'll see what I mean.
I think you're setting your baby up for a lifetime of confusion and muddled identity.
(PS. How many more threads do you plan to make about this name?!)
JamieFrasersSwingingKilt · 24/11/2020 23:35
I actually know an Amelia Shea! She's a child of a family friend aged 5. The name works well and everyone knows how to pronounce Shea.
JemimaTiggywinkle · 25/11/2020 08:04
Agree that Sophia Shea sounds like “Sophie O’Shea”.
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 25/11/2020 13:26
Sophie O'Shea sounds better than Sophia Shea (not that it's relevant as the surname is Shea).
MimiDaisy11 · 25/11/2020 14:01
I think Sophia flows well with it.
