Blisters might mean auto immune?

I had some blisters, went to a nurse, referred to a consultant and am now to have a biopsy to check for auto immune disease. I’m a bit surprised and wondered does anyone have experience of similar?

Thanks all. I’m not prone to blisters at all - only had one on my foot and a couple from insect bites I think. I’m due to get the results soon so I’ll let you know what the outcome is.

Could it be pemphigoid. I'm a nurse and have onlu seen it twice.
The doc gave Prednisolone tabs both times and it came under control. If it comes back as soon as it's noticed they go back on Prednisolone for a short course again.

My dad was diagnosed with pemphigus vulgaris in his 70s after a bout of long lasting mouth ulcers. He never really had any other symptoms, and it was only that the dentist asked about his mouth ulcers that he was eventually diagnosed

Do you have a general tendency to blisters OP - like on your feet when walking, especially in warmer weather and maybe your hands when opening bottles/jars, as a child when playing on playground equipment?

I ask because there is a rare genetic disorder called Epidermolysis Bullosa which causes blistering to various degrees of severity and milder forms of the condition (EB Simplex), where blistering is more localised, can sometimes be missed.

I was diagnosed at 26. Like most people with EB Simplex my blistering is mostly localised to my feet, occasionally my hands and sometimes my torso can be affected where clothing rubs (the wrong bra can be unpleasant).

I spent years being misdiagnosed as my condition is quite rare and quite a few doctors hadn't heard of it so didn't consider it a possibility.

Depending on where they are and what they're like, they can indicate the pemphigus family of auto immune diseases. Extremely rare though.
