Does it depend on your area?
Anyone waited or waiting for Podiatry on the NHS?

@Thistleinthenight Very much so. He was in so much pain so we are fortunate to be able to get it sorted ASAP.

So lucky you had that £600, though.

DH got referred as he had a horrible infection in his ingrown toe nail, the other was heading the same way so we paid £600 last week for both to be removed. He's done a fantastic job, so neat and very little trauma to the toe.

My GP wouldn't even refer me to a podiatrist for my ingrown toenails, told me unless I was old/diabetic I wouldn't get a look in and I should go private, even though I can't afford that. However, my GP did refer me to a physiotherapist for another foot/ankle problem and the physio referred me to a podiatrist for orthotics and that appointment came through in only a few weeks. I had the appointment today, he took one look at my toenails and said he'll make a referral for me to get them removed!

Tbh it’s underfunded and over-subscribed to.

Id love a job visiting GP practices around the uk teaching GP’s how to refer appropriately. It would save us time and them money for referral fees.

GPS didn't refer. i phoned surgery and got an appt straight away with a podiatrist.

I had an ingrowing nail I did not think that the NHS should pay for that I just went to a private guy and paid for it.

I waited about 9 months and then she did such a terrible job I paid privately for someone to finish the job (ingrown toenail) Wished I’d gone privately to start with as it was only about £250.

DM has problems with her feet but has been told there is no foot clinic in the area. Private chiropodist hasn’t managed more than short-term improvement.

My DH got an emergency referral 6 weeks ago and he's yet to have an appointment through. We ended up going private last week.
