Because there are possibly two hundred and eighty five million better things I could be doing with my time. And uh I have a life?!!?? In fact I'm pretty sure lots of people don't even iron the duvet cover (the bit that you actually bloody see! )DH and I got in to a semi serious fight over it last night. He was positively horrified when he saw me putting on a *scream UNironed fitted sheet on the bed. I had spent ages ironing the rest of the bedding (duvet and pillow covers) and two kids' bedding so this royally pissed me off. So, tell me I'm not being unreasonable All you normal folks with your heads screwed on correctly.

My mother probably did but she ironed everything - I found her ironing her cotton undies once!
But no, I don't iron anything, let alone fitted sheets.

MIL does.

And that pretty much tells you all you need to know about her 😂

@EBearhug

I do iron sheets, including fitted, because there are few things nicer than a freshly made bed. But I don't expect anyone else to do it for me.

I love a freshly made bed too, preferably line dried sheets. An ironed fitted sheet doesn't make your bed any fresher than mine.

@EleanorDeCleaner

Absolutely fucking not, the iron could kiss my creased arse if I knew where it was.

Knew where what was, your creased arse, or your iron?!

I don’t iron sheets at all—line dry or tumble dry, neatly fold—including folding fitted sheets because it’s very easy when you know how and it does save space in the airing cupboard.

I iron them, they look horrible and creased otherwise.

My mum did.

But to iron a shirt for her funeral last year we had do buy a new iron as ours died pre-covid and we never replaced it.

Haven't used it since July.

Times have changed.

Tell him to do it himself

My partner does. I don't. It's his time he's wasting.

Freshly ironed sheets are lovely but I simply can't be arsed. I'll iron bedding if we have guests but never for ourselves.

@Utterlybananas333

Yaaay I've met my tribe!!!! Ironing haters unite !

Yes but you're still ironing bedding. Why? Liberate yourself.

I rarely iron full stop. If the git wants ironed bedding then it's his job or STfU

What is an "iron"

I run a bed and breakfast and even I don't iron the fitted sheets! The most I'll do is run an iron over it for a few seconds once it's on the bed

I take my bedding out of the washing machine as soon as it’s finished & give it a hard shake. Neatly fold over clothes line and when dry smooth out and fold neatly. I never get crinkles and my bed looks nice and tidy. I also never iron sheets. It’s a waste of time & electricity.

Oh hell no. Although my nan irons her bedding and when I stay over the sheets are so nice to get into. Still not nice enough for me to be arsed to iron my own though.

My DD is 7yo, I had to iron a dress the other day because it just really really needed it. She was confused and asked what I was doing Grin So no, we definitely don't iron fitted sheets in this house.

I pay someone to iron and that includes sheets. I too thought it was a waste of time until I slipped into beautiful ironed sheets on changeover day....they are so dreamy!

I don't iron anything! Only thing that needs ironing are my partner's shirts & uniform, and he does that himself!

I've never ironed any bedding. My (late) MIL used to iron socks, teatowels, knickers, the lot. Madness.

I do the bare minimum of ironing. The only bed linen I iron is my silk pillowcase. And I do that for me!
