My best friend works in a very specific and competitive industry. She worries about her age as a lot of her peers are 20+ years younger than her even though she has steady work. Before I met her, I met someone else in the industry and worked alongside them. Got along well enough but they put their prices up considerably which is how I met my (now) best friend. My friend was cheated on by her DH and it has completely wrecked her. We're very close and can say whatever we like to each other normally and I know she has a really sore spot about this other woman. She asked why I'm still friends with her on social media and I explained that I know her, I like her and I have no reason to 'unfriend' her but will not need to ever go back to her in a work capacity as I have my bestie for that. I've been off work sick for a few weeks and I'm really properly bored and lonely. I had posted something to that effect on Instagram and I got a private message from this woman asking if I'd like to meet for lunch. I would. I'd like to speak to someone outside of my household for the first time in ages. I agreed and we have set a date and time. I'm debating whether or not to text my bestie and let her know that this woman (who I do like) has asked to meet for lunch and it is absolutely 100% not related to their profession. Having felt extreme betrayal over her marriage I don't see it going down well. This woman is a lot younger and is very successful in their industry so I know it'll be a sore point but I'm not sure if its worse not to say anything.
