AIBU?

I have turned into one of those people who like going a drive

Is there any hope for me?

I dont really want to go out for dinner, its usually overpriced and not that great. I dont want to go to the pub, alcohol doesn't agree with me now. Shopping is just shit now.

So i like to go a drive. And maybe top the excitement off with a nice walk.

Anyone similar?

Oh, I do love going for a drive.

I'm slowly but surely turning into my elderly parents.

This thread is making me miss my car. I even loved my commutes to work.

I don't like driving, but I absolutely love being driven and going for a drive.

When I was a child I'd fantasise about being rich enough to pay a chauffeur to just drive me round all day long!

When I had just passed my test in the 1970s my parents and friends all worked Saturdays so I often went exploring local places on my own . I later had a job that took me to other towns and I used to find a nice cafe for my lunch break . I love going to new places.

Ah the bench in the sun. I'm on active lookout for it from about 15 minutes into a walk nowadays.

I’m a fan of what I once would have considered my granny’s favourite pastimes:
Having a drive
Taking a flask & picnic
Finding a nice bench in the sun
Loving coming home and having a brew
Shopping for ‘anoraks’ and buying vests
Garden centres

Awwww, I love Shrewsbury Smile And yeah, it IS a gorgeous drive from Shrewsbury up to the Horseshoe Pass - once you get off the main roads. (Like once you pass the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.) Smile

@laloue

Love a drive - up to the Ponderosa near Llangollen, coffee and then home. Lid off all the way. Clears my head, gives my car a stretch of the legs and makes me smile. Or up early and through Snowdonia to Barmouth. Perfect escape. Enjoy 😊

Oooooh, me and DH go there around 3 or 4 times a year. (To the top of the Horseshoe Pass, where the Ponderosa is.) Although it's only doing takeaway food and drink at the moment, and the shop is shut. (The Shop In The Clouds.) The owner has another shop in Llangollen though. I think it's called The Shop Around The Corner.

Although..... this may change from tomorrow!!! The shop and restaurant may be open. I will ring them tomorrow to check!!!

We ALSO love to drive through Snowdonia, and LOVE Barmouth, and Fairbourne, and Harlech, and all that West Wales coast. Being quite close-ish to the Welsh border, we LOVE going for drives in West (and mid) Wales. We may bump into each other one day. Grin

@ssd YANBU. I (and DH) LOVE going for a drive, and we love going for walks. We are fortunate enough to love near woodlands and a river and the canal, so have lots of lovely places to walk around.. Was a GODSEND during the lockdowns!

I always go for drives - often find new places but always end up at a nice cafe somewhere.

We love a road trip, however this usually results in a ridiculous long journey and a motorbike purchase

I always love a wee drive.

Once I took the car out with the intention of going to the supermarket, I ended up 50 miles from home .

I love going for a drive and a walk

I absolutely love driving at night alone it’s like being in my own personal moving shed. Last week it was through central London it was lovely seeing the sights

I don’t go for a walk at night I would like to but not that brave (I drive out into quiet countryish lanes)

Dh and I love a drive to the coast for a car picnic. We are officially old.

I enjoy a walk and it has been important when wfh for setting boundaries, especially mental ones. Before the pandemic I rarely wfh because I did not want work and the rest of life to merge and become all encompassing in my thought. I have still not exhausted all possible places to visit in my local area.

Don't have a car.
