AIBU?

To Wear a Sports Bra everyday?

For the past week I've been wearing sports bras rather than normal bras during the day, they're so much more comfortable I don't know why I've only decided to do this now in my 40's. Is it OK to do this or are you not supposed to for any reason?

Your body, your choice.

I'm not sure I've ever really worn a bra, actually. Maybe a little bit in my teens, but otherwise I just wear crop-top bras every day. I have about seven in a color that matches my skin tone and seven in black. I find that they go under pretty much anything and as a teacher they're very useful since you can wear lower cut tops and it just shows through like a vest would. Living in Asia cleavage is not as culturally acceptable, so crop-top bras are also very good for the summers here. I won't even buy crop-tops with bra-style straps. Comfort all the way, tyvm.

I disagree actually.

I prefer the look and silhouette with sports bras over anything else. I am female, and heterosexual, so I appreciate others might have a different view on the subject Grin

I always wear a sports bra. I get a size bigger than I am so I'm not squeezed. Can't tolerate bras AT ALL. It's a real sensory issue for me! As a pp said, blokes would never tolerate being squeezed to the point of discomfort! I've had the odd comment in the past when I've disclosed my devotion to the sports bra along the lines of 'doesn't give boobs a nice shape' etc. Who fucking cares! If someones looking at the shape of my boobs they either like them, or they are judgemental cunts who can't have much going on in their lives!

I do have a slight addiction to Shock Absorber Grin

but while wearing a pink or coral bra under a white top at home doesn't bother me, I quite like the look, I really can't get away with it in the office if we ever go back!

I do. I'm rather well endowed and find they give the most support.

I hear ya @LadyJaye I'm the same age as you as well. I'm living for comfort these days

I don't see the point in a sports bra that only does 'a gentle hug', and I wince when I see women jogging without a good sports bra, I strap mine down good and proper!

I disposed of all my underwired bras before Christmas, having had an epiphany, and now live in sports bras, bralettes and crop tops.

I am genuinely baffled by how much of my life (I'm 42) I spent wearing stupid, restrictive underwear when there was no reason for it.

(See also: stockings, garters, corsets etc)

Do men habitually wear ridiculously tight, testicle-squeezing pants or do they just wear clothes they find comfortable?

Report
rainbowandglitter · 15/04/2021 12:21

Oh no they're way more restrictive than a normal bra. Assuming you're talking about a high impact running sports bra by the way.

I did this for a while and couldn't fathom why my neck was getting sore...they hold you differently so aren't good for wearing non stop, no. I've switched to bralettes which are super comfy but not so strong, so they don't affect you in the same way as a sports bra

@Macncheeseballs

A proper sports bra has to restrict your breasts surely? In order for them to stop bouncing! So I would find it too tight to wear all the time

A gentle hug rather than really restricted I think Grin

@RaginSpice

Maternity bras are even comfier Grin my absolute go to if I’m not going anywhere (haven’t been pregnant in some time)

Oh good tip, thanks Grin I mean, I suppose they're not going to go under every outfit properly but atm I'm wearing jumpers or hoodies most days anyway

I do try to find bras as comfy, I don't wear non-comfy clothes or shoes are a rule. @KVIIIlyne absolutely agree, life is too short to have have sore feet!

I would live in sports bras! They are the most comfortable thing in the world, would only take mine off for bed if I could!

I think it's ok, but the problem is they are not always the best match with some of the clothes. They tend to be thicker so take slightly longer to wash and dry (even if I just bang mine in the washing machine, but apparently you shouldn't)

If you are so use to the comfort and support, having to wear something else will be a shock.

@Neron

I wear them constantly because of my job. The minute I'm home though, I will take it off as it is a lot more restricting than a normal bra.

I never wear bras at home anyway
