Eve mattress cover “normal wear and tear”- AIBU?

Does anyone else have an Eve mattress bought a few years ago? We got ours in mid 2016 and have been delighted with it but the cover has worn right through just by normal contact with the wooden bed frame (pic attached). Eve say that it’s normal wear and tear and we can’t get a replacement under the warranty. My take is that if I had bought a conventional mattress I would not have expected the cover to only last 3 years.

To be clear, this is not a topper or extra cover, it is the outside of the mattress and when you unzip it it is just the layers of foam inside. We have never moved the mattress between rooms or used it anywhere except on a good quality bed base.

I feel that paying £70 to replace the cover after only 3 years using a £650 quid mattress is ridiculous. But maybe IABU?

Speak to trading standards and see how long they’d expect it to last?

Tell eve about it via Twitter. That ought to get you a speedy response.

Not easily, the hole is right up against the edge and, frankly, I don’t think I should have to have a patched mattress cover after only 3 years. It has worn away like that at all 4 corners by the way.

Can you patch it?

I have no problems at all with the mattress comfort. We really like it.

Just the cover.

Eve mattresses are awful. Ours sank on one side (my side) I am short and skinny so it wasn't excess weight. It only lasted a year! I have a sprung mattress now much more comfortable
