To feel this frightened about career change

I've reached a point in my career that I've decided I need to change. I've been retraining by doing a course at home in the evenings. I'm petrified though of taking the leap and leaving the comfort and security of my current job. I don't know if my new dream will work out but I'll never know if I don't try. DH has been completely supportive of my decision to do this even though we will take an initial hit in our income until I'm earning properly again. Is it unreasonable to feel this frightened and want to back out? I'll be going from being employed full time to being self-employed and this terrifies me. Please tell me your career change stories, good and bad. Have you changed careers and had any regrets? Would you have done things differently with hindsight?

Hi OP, I know how you're feeling as I'm in the same situation. It's very daunting!
I've decided to go part time in the new year, dropping 1.5 days initially so I get back some time for my new career, and still have regular money coming in to cover my bills. I've reasoned that I can always go back to my old career if my new one doesn't work out but life is short and I have to try or else I'll always wonder
