I just tried to make a booking at Great Queen Street which is a restaurant I have been to a couple of times before.

First call I got "cut off". Assumed it was an accident.

Second call (at 9pm on a Tuesday night) I was told they were too busy to talk to me and I should call back later

Third call (at 9.50pm) - still too busy, can I call back between 9am and 12?

Bloke on the phone then spends literally 5 minutes telling me I am unreasonable to call at nearly 10pm on a Tuesday night...FFS

Sorry but my day is busy too and I would never, EVER, talk to my clients like that.

The worst are the ones which demand your credit card number to confirm the booking and then tell you not only can you only have the table for an hour and a half but if you cancel within 48hs you will be charges £x- extremely irritatiing but sometimes you have to do it but it makes me grrrrrrrrrrr

I agree, I had to cancel the restaurant (St John, bread and wine) I had booked on Friday night for my birthday because they couldn't(wouldn't) accommodate and extra person at the table. Such utter bullshit. I have worked in restaurants for all my adult life and even though I had asked them on Friday morning they did nothing to try to help me. Wankers.

It's called Great Queen St and it's on Great Queen St which is between Covent Garden and Holborn. Opposite the Freemasons Hall. It's a restauarant that's sort of like a gastropub without a pub attached. But don't go there because they are tossers
