What do other people do the 'wrong' way

Mabumssare · 21/01/2019 12:38

Following on from another thread my DH informed me the other night that I load the cutlery wrong in our dishwasher. It has a cutlery tray at the top and he says it's easier to put the knives on the far away side because they are easier to turn than the forks .......HmmGrin

I also have to refold half my washing if DM or MIL (kindly) fold it for me because they won't fit in nice piles with those already in the drawers Wink

Wash things under a running tap
Peg washing out badly so clothes stretch
Overstir mince so it turns to micro mush

Atalune · 21/01/2019 12:44

Folding towels in any other way other than a book fold
Dusting after you hoover- nonsense!

thecatsthecats · 21/01/2019 12:45

Leave the tap running whilst brushing teeth.
Christmas - everything from how and when they decorate to what presents Grin.
Arguing about P&C spaces when they could order food delivery online if it bothers them so much, then demonstrate an extraordinary amount of precious fuss about 'picking their own apples'. Fine. Live stupid. I haven't parked in a supermarket in months, and the Tesco man brings perfectly nice apples.

Put things on the airer to dry; I always change how DH does it as I believe it takes longer to dry his way

Mabumssare · 21/01/2019 12:49

Grin o dear
I must only wash under a running tap can't stand dirty food water Wink

I also fold my towels in 3 so they have smooth edges on both sides as seen on an Andhra Turner tv show years ago 😂 (I'm guessing that's not a book fold ?)

According to Dh nobody can do the washing correctly but him. Well, the children can sorta do it correctly because he has been schooling them since infancy but certainly not as well as he can. So he usually does it all.

And the towels. God forbid I fold a towel like a normal towel. No the towels have to be rolled into perfectly firmly rolled like we live in a 5 star hotel and stacked neatly with respect in the towel closet or we will never hear the end of it and watch yet another demonstration of how towels are supposed to be treated.

Drogosnextwife · 21/01/2019 12:50

Anytime dp does anything in the house he does it wrong, I think he does it on purpos in hopes that I'll tell him never to do it again. Dream on dp.

PixiKitKat · 21/01/2019 12:52

I use my knife and fork with the wrong hands. I don't care, my partner thinks it's odd.

Mabumssare · 21/01/2019 12:56

Ooo I do this to. Well I cut my food with the knife in my right hand then move my fork into my right hand to eat which makes sense as I am right handed !

We had a big discussion about this one Christmas dinner FIL is the same as me and everyone else was wrong ..... 😂 (Yes our parties do sound fun )

My DH folds towels and sheets lengthways - why?
He also puts the loo roll on the holder the wrong way.
He has never ironed - his Mum did it before me and is now outsourced - which you can tell by the way he hangs laundry, so that edges are rolled up and creating creases

I should LTB!

thecatsthecats · 21/01/2019 12:57

I do the washing up wrong. (don't check things as they come out the dishwasher, race through pans in sink, don't soak or rinse things correctly)

He does the laundry wrong. (Eco mode - 2h. Extra spin. Extra spin. EXTRA FUCKING SPIN. Then tumble dryer. Leaves me without pants because he's still doing last week's load ON FUCKING SPIN.)

We've split responsibilities and declared ceasefire on the inadequacies of our former transgressions.

IdleBetty · 21/01/2019 12:58

I read magazines back to front. No idea why, but always have.

gentlyscented · 21/01/2019 13:01

@Mabumssare I do the moving from hand to hand with the cutlery too 😳 it annoys the hell out of dh! I literally can't cut anything with my left hand though so have no choice but to shuffle back and fourth 🙈

Loyaultemelie · 21/01/2019 13:05

Dh loads the dishwasher wrong and doesn't throw out the cardboard tubes from toilet roll so an ever increasing collection builds up (until I crack!) He is a reasonably reformed spoony fucker (enforced reform by muttered threats of where said spoon will be inserted if he stirs on more thing to mush)

Dd1 refuses to use a knife and cuts food with her fork no matter how often we try.

Df rolls towels much to dms disgust (she is a folder)

Nightinshiningllama · 21/01/2019 13:07

I WISH my DH did the washing so he could wash/peg out/fold/put away things incorrectly. I’d happily let him do it all wrong🤷‍♀️

waitingforthenextbus · 21/01/2019 13:08

apparently load the dishwasher 'wrong' according to control freak DW who is blessed with the knowledge on how to do everything the 'right' way.

waitingforthenextbus · 21/01/2019 13:09

I'm currently on strike for loading dishwasher and doing laundry, it's bliss!

IsItThatTimeAgain · 21/01/2019 13:10

Wear my watch on the wrong wrist.

TheMagicTorch · 21/01/2019 13:10

Similar to so many on here,

I am incapable of loading the dishwasher 'correctly'

But DH is absolutely terrible at hanging washing. It gets all creased and doesn't dry properly!
so we stick to our respective jobs! Grin

Atalune · 21/01/2019 13:12

This is a book fold- I think it is Anthea Turners way. She was quite annoying but her perfect housewife stuff was brilliant!
BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/01/2019 13:13

I had a very cathartic thread on here several months ago about my DH using the bread knife for things other than cutting bread. Shock He also can't cut a straight slice of bread, they are all wedge shaped.

He's not keen on the way that I let laundry build up into a huge pile and then do four loads in one day, leading to a huge ironing pile in the utility room.

Not wrong just different preference, mostly....

Probably hard to explain in text but I had an ex that ate Pringles upside down - as in when you'd see the crisp moving towards your mouth it would resemble a "u" rather than an "n". Surely the design of the Pringle is as such that the "n" shape means it fits in your mouth perfectly that way?

Beamur · 21/01/2019 13:17

My DH is blissfully ignorant of all of these. I have given up any hope of reeducation and just let him get on with it.

minisoksmakehardwork · 21/01/2019 13:17

Dh cannot will not separate the cutlery in the drainer. So spoons, knives etc all mixed up. It is so much easier to put spoons in one section, knives and forks in their own too for drying up. It's the reason I insist on having a drainer with three small sections ffs!
