To potentially start WW3 with a hot chocolate thread?

Hello, Mumsnetters. I'm on the lookout for a very chocolately, rich, and indulgent hot chocolate mix.

The Cadbury one in the purple tin just isn't satisfying my craving (pregnant, maybe that's why), and although I do enjoy making it from a bar of chocolate, that feels like lots more calories than a mix would be.

So, give me your recommendations for a really special treat, please :)

Whittards ones for me :-)

Make it with chocolate milk.

So four scoops of Cadbury’s mix, into warmed chocolate milk.

My children love the whittards ones, many to choose from.
Also if you want a really indulgent one try Hotel Chocolat.

Ooh good thread, OP. I'm always on the lookout for new hot chocolate! Definitely going to be keeping this in my watch list!

The Green and Black's Organic one is lovely.

Tried the Twinings Swiss one recently. It was lovely.

Also tried the Tesco Finest one. That was horrible.

Another vote for twining Swiss.

Or there used to be an excellent one that was called Spanish hot chocolate - very thick. Amazon seem to do a few other brands.

Ooh OP i had a thing for both chocolate milk and hot chocolate whilst pregnant.

Lidl do this chocolate milkshake powder that was DIVINE. 4 massive spoons into cold milk...mmmm

It was even better as a hot chocolate. Hot frothy milk.

Also, if you're slightly insane, melt some ben and jerrys chocolate brownie ice cream, mix into milk and heat it up. Use a milk frother to froth the shit out of it....

Fuck the calories OP, you give baby the best hot choc u can find!

Melt your favourite into milk. Lots of chocolate, some milk.

I like the Lidl and the Asda ones. I add a heaped teaspoon of skim milk powder and use hot water because I cant be arsed with heating milk. It makes it extra creamy.

Twinings Swiss in milk is lovely and rich and creamy. Like Lindt vs Cadbury.

And I pour milk into a mug, microwave it for 1 minute and then mix powder in. It's really less effort than boiling the kettle.

When I'm making a special one, I use the Cadbury's mix, measure 2/3 of the cup of milk, warm it up, put it into a jug with the chocolate powder, blitz it with the blender, put it back into the cup, add double cream up to the top of the cup, warm it up in the microwave if needed (if the cream has cooled it down too much) then put marshmallows, squirty cream and chocolate sprinkles on the top.

Try montezuma, guessing you can get it online. It’s hot chocolate is made with actual flakes of chocolate - they have shops solely dedicated to chocolate which is where we came across them and first bought their hot chocolate . Not cheap but it will give you the ultimate chocolate hit.

I always make cocoa rather than hot chocolate which is too sweet for me. If I want it really chocolatey I just use more cocoa
