Which films do you watch for the setting alone?

The film I've watched over and over again for the setting alone is The Talented Mr Ripley. It's set in late 50s Italy and it's just breathtaking. It's partly to do with nostalgia for a time when life seemed simpler. I use the term nostalgia here loosely as I'm in my 30s. I feel a huge sense of loss for the slow pace of life depicted, the stunning unspoilt scenery and sunshine that oozes out of every frame. It's heart breaking to think that particular era will never return.

The film itself is fantastic, but every time I watch it I hardly focus on the storyline as I'm too busy drinking in the scenery.

Twilight. The cinematography is fantastic and the scenery and surroundings and stunning, I’ve wanted to go to the Pacific Northwest ever since seeing it the first time.

I actually think it’s a very good film and is one of my comfort watches.

The first Jason Bourne (what on Earth is it called again? the Bourne Identity? Did I make that up?) also has some stunning shots, when he’s driving through the mountains with Marie.

I also love The Duellists for is beautiful chateau and costumes, and Far from the Madding Crowd, the original with Julie Christie.

I like all the American films set in cowboy country of the South West, Monument Valley, beautiful area, we're lucky to have been there a few times and because my late Dad was a fan of cowboy films I feel close to him. I would have loved to be able to take him there.

My best favourite (TV not film) is Darling Buds of May - the Kent countryside and villages are gorgeous
