A trailer for the tv comedy Gameface had the line which went something like "Don't pick up the cat. He's just eaten a kebab." This was on tv weeks ago and I still break into a smile when I think of it. AIBU to ask this or just slightly doolally but what other one liners from comedy programmes do people still find funny no matter how many times they hear it or how long ago it was last on tv? Another one that springs to my crazy mind is Basil Fawlty saying "Is this a piece of your brain" to the annoying woman who wouldn't turn her hearing aid on because it used up the batteries. Smile

Mine is in the Mighty Boosh, character lost in the Arctic, says to himself ‘I’m lost... Wind my only friend’ then the wind whispers ‘I hate you’.

Always makes me Grin.

Mollie85 · 09/12/2017 14:57

Mine is a scene in Bottom (the Christmas one) where Eddie gives Richie a gift and Richie is so excited and is furiously opening it : “oh Eddie you havent, you havent, you havent?”
(Opens present)
“Oh. You haven’t.”

pmsl Grin

Me and my brother do this scene every year much to the chagrin of our loved ones. (We are 36 and 34) Xmas Grin

Mine is equally random. It's a protest scene in the Alan Partridge film and I just happened to notice one of the placards says 'Pat Farrell is a Fat Barrel.' I was pregnant when I first saw it and my DH was worried I'd go into labour I laughed so hard. It's not even that funny!

GerardNoWay · 09/12/2017 15:03

League of Gentlemen...

'You lied to me, Edward! There is a Swansea!' Grin

overnightangel · 09/12/2017 15:05

Alan Partridge’s while lap dancing in front of Tony Hayers coffin,
“Tony Hayers..... DECEASED! We had our differences, but at the end of the day.... you died!”

Greatbigspud · 09/12/2017 15:11

Another Partridgean one, the bit in the recent (sublime) Scissored Isle where he’s working as a checkout assistant ‘yougocarefulnowtheremylove’ - second place is the bit in Nomad where he goes off on a tangent about working in a post-Yewtree age - probably the hardest I’ve ever laughed just from reading something

HildaZelda · 09/12/2017 15:12

One foot in the grave:

Victor Meldrew: You can't change a lightbulb with one hand
Mrs Warboys: You can if you've still got the receipt

Dinnerladies:

Dolly: Is he laying your new lino?
Jean: He's laying anything he wants to lay!

KeepServingTheDrinks · 09/12/2017 15:16

Mine's recent, but DH and I have been laughing at it all week (he actually woke me up laughing in bed 2 days after we'd seen it).

From the Detectorists
"People expect me to have good nails in my line of work"
"what do you do?"
"I'm an author"

AliceBanned · 09/12/2017 15:19

Mine isn't a one-liner but the scene in the Royle Family where Jim Royle and Twiggy are stripping wallpaper while dancing to Mambo No. 5.
Anytime, I just have to think of that and it proper cheers me up! Grin

Greatbigspud · 09/12/2017 15:22

Also most lines by Tobias Fünke from Arrested Development - ‘Hey! Where the f*ck are my hard boiled eggs?!’

Most of the episode of Black Adder with Robbie Coltrain as Dr.Johnson.

"Allow me to be the first to offer Dr. Johnson my most sincere contrafibularities! I am anaspeptic, frasmotic, even compunctuous to have caused him such pericombobulation."

Father Ted
…OK, one last time. These are small… but the ones out there are far away. Small… far away…

KathyBeale · 09/12/2017 15:34

Another Partridge one, when he says to Sally Phillips "do you know what someone has written on my car" and completely straight-faced, she says: "tosser?"

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 09/12/2017 15:35

Not a one liner but ‘teeth are your outside bones’ song from Kimmy Schmit.

Bratsandtwats · 09/12/2017 15:35

Father Ted

MargaretCavendish · 09/12/2017 15:41

This is a bit off-topic but - if you've only seen the trailer for Gameface definitely watch the series! It was one of my favourite things I've seen this year - both DH and I thought it was so much better than the trailer (and maybe also the first episode) suggested, and we were really pleasantly surprised that Roisin Conaty, who we thought of as 'one of those people off panel shows' had a lot more depth!

In the actual spirit of the thread... 'Brown's savoury, white's the treat. Of course I'm the one who's laughing because I actually love brown bread' from Peep Show makes me laugh disproportionately!

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 09/12/2017 15:47

I’m not sure what program it’s from, as it’s something we use so often it’s lost in time. (I think it’s Ronnie Barker. )
But when we are shopping we make each other laugh by saying “your crackers m’lud”.
“Your nuts m’lady”
We do not have to be buying nuts or crackers, it just makes me laugh out loud and yet as I look at it in print, it’s not that funny.

Laiste · 09/12/2017 15:50

Oh god Father Ted! Where to begin?

''It'll never last Ted!''

HangryHanderson · 09/12/2017 15:50

the much underrated Plus One

For context Daniel Mays needs a plus one for his ex's wedding to DuncanFromBlue. He has found a possible plus one but has lied to her about knowing Jamelia in a vain tempt to impress. The latter then puts him on the spot by telling his future plus one that he can dance 'old school'...

'Jamelia made me do it' became a catchphrase in our house we don't get out much Wink

Duncan James is a good sport too, sending himself up

and Nigel Harman and Ingrid Oliver as siblings who take the piss out of each other pitch it perfectly
kissmethere · 09/12/2017 15:50

I absolutely love the Lord Flasheart, Black Adder where he runs off with Bob. Pretty much the whole thing has me in stitches.
Percy learning at Baldrick in the dress and after they kiss
"What an original perfume"😂
And the lyrics of the credits at the end
"Lord Flasheart
Lord Flasheart you're sexier by faaaaaarrr"

ShutUpBaz · 09/12/2017 15:50

Blackadder trying to teach Baldrick basic maths....

'If I have two beans, and I add two beans, what do I have?'

'......a very small casserole.'

Put a tail on it, call it a weasel.

whifflesqueak · 09/12/2017 15:53

I don’t remember where it was from but I smiled for aaaages at this line:

“You know what they say about Comfort Zones? If you never leave your Comfort Zone, you’ll always be niiiiiice and comfortable.”

Domino20 · 09/12/2017 15:57

One of the episodes of 'Gameface' made me laugh so hard my eyelids spontaneously flipped inside out.
