Next jeans worn out in 12 months

Bought pair of next enhancer jeans around this time last year. Wear them approx one/two times a week. They are wearing out already around the thigh area. Jeans usually last longer than this! Thoughts?

Gap jeans are great, 3 years and still going strong. Some M&S are good but as many have pointed out, Lycra is often the cause. Designer jeans containing Lycra are no better, just far more expensive.

I found Next's quality of product across the board has really declined. It used to be great. Now, it is poorly to average quality at a high price.
I have Oasis jeans and they have worn really well. Lycra won't wear as well especially if washing at high temperatures.

I also had this with next jeans - not just at the thigh rubbing point but on the front of the thighs too, they replaced the first ones and the exact same thing happened. I wear gap jeans now, they've lasted much better, despite my legs still being the same!

I loathe Lycra in jeans. I actively avoid buying any with more than1%.

It's too fast if they're actual denim, but if they're a mix of denim and a stretchy material then that's pretty standard. A lot of 'jeans' these days are no more durable than cheap leggings.

Wow it would never occur to me that jeans would last that long, always wear them through in less than six months. Normally through the knee...

I did have Levi's from the 90s that did last 5 years but things aren't made like that any more!

Were they the lift and sculpt ones by any chance?

This is the problem with fast fashion and cheep foreign labour things just do not last.

I've had this with next jeans, I took them back and they replaced them for me.. twice! Worth a try

Never thought of wearing men's jeans !

Does anyone know of a shop that sells just jeans but all different brands ?

I keep my waning to try out more men's jeans as they don't seem to fuck about with lycra

We used to have a jeans shop in town but it closed down ages ago - I'd love to find a reasonably priced pair of 'just' denim jeans .

Someone said True Religion were good - I nearly choked at the price !

I wouldn't call 50p a wear good value actually.

Apparently not!

I'm thinking of going back to specialist jean shops really. Ones that focus just on denim products (Levi, etc.) unless someone comes on here to tell me they've gone downhill too!

So buying more expensive doesn't equal better quality then? (was going to say thats just pants)

It's the lycra that does it. Means they're cheaper to make, but the stretch means they don't stay fitted (due to the cotton), and means the denim is weakened as well.

It's shit. I've had £79 jeans do the same thing - one pair wore out within a month and I returned them - they were replaced as faulty but the same thing has happened to the replacement 6 months down the line.

Actually, I've just checked and I bought them October last year so not even 12 months. I think it may be the lycra that makes them no longer as hard-wearing as they used to be. I also wonder why my size 12 fit perfectly when freshly washed yet a few hours later they are too big on the waist and thighs ( as other people have commented )

I wish they hadn't started to put Lycra into clothes , jeans especially . I know they're more comfortable
to wear but they really dont seem to last as long . As a PP said they fit fine in the morning but come lunch time , mine are all baggy and will only look ok again if I wash them.

I used to love squeezing myself into my just washed, stiff as a board wranglers or Pepe jeans back in the 80's.

Maybe you needed a bigger size.... hardly nexts fault there is it

Thighs rubbing together doesn't mean she's wearing the wrong size. Not all of us have a thigh gap!

That aside, this always happens with jeans with a a lycra mix. So a year sounds about right

caffeinestream · 08/06/2017 17:25

I get this with some jeans, it's so frustrating.

I don't think a year is good value for clothing really. I wouldn't expect to have to replace a £25 pair of jeans every year.

Ooh I was going to order some of these jeans, are they true to size? I always have an issue with thigh rub so might have to rule these out....

I used to buy most of my clothes at Next but over the last couple of years the quality has really gone downhill. After my last purchases (a top which bobbled after on wash and a pair of trousers that started falling to bits the first time I wore them), I have vowed no more shopping in Next. I have also found the customer service appalling - rude, arrogant and unhelpful on the issues I had with the poor quality clothing, as well as a nightmare furniture order last year. Plus their chief executive is a dick!
