Stranger just threatened to slap me!

Visited v close family member and we argued. They live in a shared student house with paper thin walls. Anyway next day she apologised to neighbours; one of them said that "if she (me) was here now I would slap her." We have never met. I'm quite offended

You're being daft op.

Moregravyplease ... read the original thread. I am guessing this is just a troll. OP paraphrased an old thread from a different section, left out enough to make her reaction look reasonable, and dumped it in AIBU. Possibly intending to drip feed the details.

Moregravy, look at the thread that is linked if you want all the details.

I want to know what the argument was about.

Are you hoping for a better response this time because you aren't trying to label the guy as a misogynist?

So this wasn't a random stranger and it wasn't said to your face. But has been repeated to you by a family member you just had a row with?

Yes deja vu strong in this one!

Another one feeling a sense of deja vu!

So a stranger didn't threaten to hit you then. It wasn't a random person in the street threatening you with violence.
It was a person that you haven't met yet your sister knows who said it in the same way as we say LTB on here.
Not nice but drop it already.

Why does everyone assume it was a cousin? Assuming it's the same person as on the other thread, it was a sister. And I must say if I were working for finals in a student house with paper thin walls and someone started shouting after midnight, I might feel less than charitable.

I would be asking what your cousin told them or what they heard you saying to have that response. And why you cousin told you they said this?

Personally it sounds like one of those stupid things people say to support a friend.

If you're still offended 4 months after it was said, you really need to let it go.

No-one has threatened to slap you, it just sounds as though they'd dearly love to.

Wittery ... It wasn't just me suffering from deja vu.

It's all talk, ignore it.

I once got hit by a stranger I said "excuse me" to as him and his mates were blocking the pavement. I said it twice as they didn't move, then one turned and saw me and said "oh sorry" and waved me through. As I walked through his mate said something g so I turned round and said "pardon" and he said "I said you're a fucking cunt" and hit me in the face so hard I actually left the pavement and slammed into a wall.

Police drive past a minute later so I flagged them down. Guy told the police I'd threatened him and he was defending himself. I'm 5 foot 4 and he was over six feet. Cctv caught it all and he was prosecuted. Turned out he'd smashed a glass ashtray into a strange woman's face previously....nice guy huh?

She’s just gobbing off in support of your cousin. Wouldn’t worry about it.
