AIBU?

Graphic novels for mature audiences -- inappropriate for 11yo?

Bought myself some new books recently. Sin City and similar stuff.
My 11yo DS wants to read them now. The kid who DOES NOT LIKE BOOKS.
But... He has read "Barefoot Gen" series without being forced.

Surely my new books are not appropriate for his age, but... Its so rare that he actually cares for a book

Honestly, just because he doesn't normally show an interest in reading doesn't mean I would want to say "Sure go right ahead" to some pretty non age appropriate stuff. If he's showing an interest in graphic novels though I would explain this stuff is more mature but that you'll take him to the nearest comic shop and he can pick something out there.

300! Thanks for mentioning. Ordered that now.
He handled Barefoot Gen pretty well, even though it was very disturbing, but at least interesting. He hasn't seen the film yet, even thought i'm not squeamish about violence, but that one is just too much... Maybe a few years later.

Tintin and asterix. I read them as a 11 year old and still read them now.

The new Ms Marvel is light on violence and explicit language, that could be a good one for him.
